I, like Jerilyn, am also a direct descendant of Daniel Dye, Sr. who, along with his son John R. Dye (a Baptist preacher) was one of Unity Baptist Church's founders. In fact, from what I understand, the first Baptist service held in that area, with John R. preaching, was held in John R.'s home before the church was built. So I also am interested in the church's early records. They may no longer be in existance. I have tried to locate the records for the Hopewell Methodist Church Cemetery because I would like to know if Joseph Dye, son of John R. and my 3rd gt gfa., is buried there next to his wife Mary. (Her dob and dod are on the stone but since only his dob is on the stone, no one knows if he is actually buried there next to his wife). The United Meth. Church East Ohio Conference closed the church some years ago and I was told by that conference's office that the records were not at the conference level and that the procedure was to leave the records with the church people/township trustees, etc.. Well, alas, after numerous phone calls to former church people and trustee secy., the fate of the records to date is unknown. Would sure appreciate hearing from ANYBODY about any of these records for both churches! Thanks.
