His eldest child, James Ervin Dye, is my 2nd gt gfa. James Ervin's first wife, my 3rd gt gmo, was Nancy Jane Markley and the youngest of their children was Abraham, my gt gfa. James Ervin and Nancy Jane moved back and forth betw. Monroe Co. and Wayne Co., OH (Orrville-Wooster area). After Nancy Jane's death, James Ervin wed Jane Dundass of Monroe Co. and they lived in the Wayne-Stark Co., OH area and had one son, James Ervin Dye, Jr.. My current BIG quest is to find the burial places of Joseph and James Ervin...and mainly to first find their places of death. I cannot get to those counties to go through death/church records, etc.. Am looking for long-lost relatives, etc.. Am also trying to verify that James Ervin and Jane are buried in unmarked graves in the cemetery of the Chapel of the Cross United Meth. Church in N. Lawrence (Stark Co.), OH. Nancy Jane Markley Dye and son Abraham are buried side-by-side in Union Cemetery at Paradise (in Wayne Co.). There are so many repeated names that it is difficult to keep the people in the correct families. I rec'd a packet of info years ago from a lady near Cleveland who was related. She had as James Ervin's wife, the Nancy Jane Dye who md. William Bolen in Monroe Co.---I think the latter couple also moved to Wayne Co.. The sad thing about that misconception was that that lady said she was right and the rest of us were wrong so that attitude, I am sure, led to much more confusion! As for the children you have listed for Joseph: I think he did not have daughters Elizabeth and Abigail but that one of the daughters was Abagail (not Abigail) Elizabeth or Elizabeth Abagail and was known as "Abby," and she wed a Varner. Another daughter, Mary Pricilla (spelled with no "s") married a Hamilton Rinard. The Varners and Rinards later migrated to Nebraska. I found info on them on some NE source that details migrants. Do you know if one of the John R.'s has the "R" in his name for Rodgers? I have heard of John Rodgers Dye and don't know who that is---some people say that is the middle name of Joseph's father. There is so much to learn about these folks!! How are or are you related? Will gladly share info. Thanks. Dye and Priscilla Ridgeway? I have for his children Elizabeth, Mary, Abigail, Luther, Vincent and Elzy. I have another John R. Dye who married Ary Ridgeway who had a son Elam Joseph and he died 8n 1863 and is buried in Unity Cemetery, Perry Township. Just trying to keep this Dye family straight. It is always a challenge.
