Thru Tillman. My Tilghman (seen it spell both ways Tillman) married Cassie Reed. Tillman's parents were Hezekiah Saffell born 1782 in Montgomery County MD. He married a Lydia Davis 9/8/1804 in MD. Hezekiah's parents were Samuel Saffell born 1746 Prince Georges County MD and he died 3/31/1836 in the same place. He married Sophia Segar 10/5/1780 in MD. Samuel's father was Samuel Saffell born 1712 in Essex County England. He died 5/28/1888 in MD. Their daughter Mary Ann born abt 1842 married Alexander Palmer in 1858 in Belmont County OH. Their daughter Canarissa was my ggrandmother. Alexander's father was said to be Josiah. The only place that appears is on Alexander's death certificate in 1910 and he appears in the 1830 census for OH in Belmont county. Who was John Palmer's wife? They did not have death certificates; they had very large bound books, the same as their ancestors had in Europe. The basic information provided: a. Name b. Male/Female c. Date of Death d. Married/single/widowed e. Age (Years-Months-Days) f. Town or Township of Death g. Place of Birth h. Occupation i. Name of Father & Mother of children, especially if unnamed infants j. Color k. Disease, if applicable l. Place of Residence m. Remarks (seldom used) . These books were used into the early 20th Century in Monroe County. The CDs made by R. E. Harrington & the Monroe County Historical Society show this available data. They are for sale by the MC Historical Society for about $10 each. Can anyone tell me if John or Ruth Palmer from Monroe County were related to any Palmers that might have been in Belmont? Reason I'm asking is I have Palmers in my line. My gggrandfather was Alexander Palmer who was son of Josiah and Stacia Ann Dunfee. Josiah died before the 1840 census and Stacia showed as a widow. They had 3 sons together. William, John Franklin and of course Alexander. Stacia later married David Brooks in 1840 and they had more children together. I believe Stacia died about 1885. Stacia was the granddaughter of John Edge who was in the Revolutionary War and is said to have been in George Washington's Private Corps at one time. Alexander married Mary Ann Saffell born abt 1842 who was daughter of Tilghman Saffell and Cassandra Reed. Alexander and Mary were parents of 12 children including Canarissa (my ggrandmother), William, John Franklin, Matthias, Issac, Lorenzo, Viola, Shanon among others. Alexander died 1/1910. I've never seen anymore on Alexanders father. Only his name on Alexanders death certificate and the 1830 census. Best regards, Peggy
