Dear fellow searchers, Is anyone aware of any German Swiss early (1820 - 1840) marriage records for Switz twp.? My guess is the church would have been St John's Ev Ch and I read that the early records were burned. I am looking for marriage of Anna Balziger to Christian Moser in 1828 or so. Believe Jacob Balziger lived in Switz twp according to 1840 census. Karen
I will be attending a reunion in Monroe County the Last of August. What Motels are in the area.
Hi I am assuming Lydia Barrett was from Belmont Co., Ohio, She and George Monroe were married in Belmont Co., Ohio on September 30, 1830. In the 1850 census she is listed as being born in Ohio. I really haven't did any research on her as the problem of figuring out the Monroe family is enough. I also work on many many other ancestors. Some like Leak, Lappin, Starbuck, Gray, Brewer. Starkey were all in Belmont Co., Ohio and I have another list in Monroe Co., Ohio. George Monroe died in Appanoose Co., Iowa in 1908 and I might have more information on her in another file, but have all my children and grandchildren coming for the week, so give me time to look this up. Perhaps we can find an obituary in Iowa for her. Thanks for your inquiry. Jerilyn
Searching for descendants of Abram and Julie Ann Leak Mann. Living in Monroe Co., in 1850. Twenty or more years ago a descendant of theirs took me out by the Mann cemetery and showed me around. Shortly after that 2 of my children became very ill and I lost tough with him, but believe it was Floyd Mann. Through the years we have been able to put most of the Leak descendants together. I have nothing from this branch at all. Have just made contact with James Frances Leek descendants. I am down from Bazzle and we have most of the family down from both Bazzle & Elisha L. George Leak is a little sparse, but coming along. The group that went west spelled the name Leak and the West Virginia bunch are using Leek. Through the Monroe Co., Ohio records, I have also found another daughter, Margaret, who married George Lynch. Would like to make contact with a few of their descendants also. We think there might be at least one more daughter, Mary Jane or Mary Ann who married William Truax and died before 1843. Stillwell Truax was living with George Leak in Illinois in 1860 and Ann Truax was living with Elisha and Margaret Leak in 1850 in Monroe Co., Ohio. I have four different maiden names for Margaret - Garwood, Lamb, Grove and an Irish Name. Any help on these families would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jerilyn Lappin Koskan jlktrees@aol.com
Looking for any descendants of Henry, Samuel, Margaretta States Huffman (Levi), Martha C. States Hensell (John), Isabella States Cline (Martin V.B.), Nancy T. States Knapp (Robert). These are all children of Archibald and Sarah Brewer States. There was another son, Nathaniel, who died in Ohio and 2 daughters, Mary Catherine and Christina Eliza that I think might have died earlier. Sarah Jane States married Jonathan Smith and Daniel Brewer States died and his family went to Illinois. I have been working on this family for 40 some years and would like to finish the descendants so I can get this manuscript put together before all the information is lost. Is only for families and to put in genealogy libraries. Thanks Jerilyn Lappin Koskan jlktrees@aol.com

> My gr gr gr grandfather came from Bingen (on the Rhine), Germany - or Prussia. > He came to America in 1754 as near as I can determine - His name was Johannes Hello Hal, you will probably know about Valerie Kramer <funzone@harborside.com> who posted something about John(Johannes) Baker to OHMONROE on april 29th. Here in Kaiserslautern is the "Institut fuer pfaelzische Geschichte und Volkskunde"(Institute of palatine history). Two years ago I visited some of their lectures. Most interesting. They are keeping a card based "Auswanderungskartei"(emigration database). The official told me that they are using some unemployed people who are on welfare to get everything in the computer. Unfortunately they are not yet online. I will phone them next week to confirm all this, and ask them to do a lookup, although I doubt that they will accept phone based lookups. It would be best if you could give me all information you have on your John/Johannes Becker, including profession and religion. Their address is: Institut fuer pfaelzische Geschichte und Volkskunde Auswanderungsdatei Benzinoring 6 67657 Kaiserslautern Germany In Bingen on the Rhine records of last century are probably kept either at the protestant or catholic church: protestant: Evangelisches Pfarramt Dromersheimer Chaussee 1 55411 Bingen am Rhein Germany catholic: Katholisches Pfarramt Bingen Zehnthofstrasse 14 55411 Bingen am Rhein Germany I did some online research of emigrant ships, but in the 1750s there was no ship with a Johannes Becker listed. Finding living descendants of somebody named Becker in Germany is probably very difficult, because privacy laws forbids giving personal data of persons not at least 100 years dead. Becker is a VERY common name here, so you couldn't possibly write letters to everybody named Becker. In Bingen a.R. there are 51 Beckers listed. Doing research in Preussen is even more difficult, because Preussen was very large and some parts of Preussen are now in Poland. (Sorry about all that.) Since our following emails are probably of no interest to OHMONROE we should direct mail. So long Henry Dipl.-Ing. Hello, I just joined the Monroe Co.list. My name is Elizabeth Smith. I am seeking the descendants of John F. Thompson, b. ca. 1865 in Bath Co., KY. The 1951 obit of his sister, Lucy Thompson Williams, stated that John F. was a resident of Hamilton, OH. John F. Thompson m. Maggie Ballard in Bath Co., KY in 1892. Maggie died in 1919 and is buried in Bath Co. John F. and Maggie had a son, Clyde, born in 1894. Clyde married Ethel McGlone. Other children were Hobert, b. 1896, and Thelma, b. 1899. I am trying to document the descendants of John F.'s father, George Washington Thompson. Any help appreciated. Will share what I have. Elizabeth Smith lizsmith@setel.com
Researching Sarah Anders (born 15 Jun 1820 Maryland). Think, but have no proof, that her dad was Charles Anders (1783 - after 1850). Sarah married William Morrison (born 16 Feb 1810 Maryland). Most probably married in Maryland. William's parents were Andrew and Margaret (last name ??) Morrison. Andrew was born 8 Aug 1785 in Maryland. Think, but do not know, his father was William from the 1790 Washington County MD census. These families settled in Belmont and Monroe Counties. Is this familiar to anyone?
