    3. Hi , Has anyone sent to the county for a birth certificate? I have found the adress , but never information concerning the fee, if you could help me I sure would appriciate it. I'm reading " THE OHIO FRONTIER" by Douglas Hurt. It is very informative, Indians, land speculaters, and reasons for settlement in areas all over the state. Thought I would mention this as maybe its just as important to understand the people as to find them. Thanks so much if you can help, Reta

    1. [OHMONROE-L] TERRY Family before 1880
    2. Earl Cowan
    3. Hello to the list, I just subscribed to the list. Hoping someone has knowledge of the Terry family below. Part of this family shows up in the 1880 census of Pleasants co, WV. The father, Francis, is apparently deceased by then. It is believed most or all of the children were born in Ohio. Samuel Terry lists his birthplace as Monroe co, OH. on his marriage certificate. He changed his surname to ATKINSON before his marriage in 1882 in Pleasants co. I'd really appreciate a lookup in any Monroe co. Census before 1880. I'll share information on this family, and also I have census, marriage and death books for Pleasants, Ritchie and Doddridge counties, and will do lookups. Descendants of Francis Terry Generation No. 1 1. FRANCIS TERRY was born in England. He married ANNE ROBINSON. She was born 1802 in Painton in York, England. Children of FRANCIS TERRY and ANNE ROBINSON are: i. WILLIAM ROBINSON TERRY, b. Jul 14, 1826; m. HESTER ?; b. Abt. 1826, OH. ii. JOHN TERRY, b. Jan 10, 1828. iii. GEORGE TERRY, b. Jan 30, 1830; m. SARAH C. TATE, Aug 25, 1870, Ritchie Co, WV; b. 1847, Augusta co, VA. iv. ALICE TERRY, b. Oct 9, 1832. v. JANE TERRY, b. Jan 16, 1835; m. HENRY LAMP, Jul 16, 1874, Pleasants co, WV. vi. ABIGAL TERRY, b. Jul 4, 1849. vii. SAMUEL TERRY/ATKINSON, b. Jan 27, 1856, Monroe co, OH; m. NANCY LANDORA JORDAN, 1882; b. 1858, OH; d. 1924. -- Best Regards Earl Cowan mailto:ecowan@weir.net, http://www.weir.net/~ecowan http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/c/o/w/Earl-R-Cowan/

If you go to: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ussearch.htm and enter a term such as the county name and click the state button, it will tell you if there is a Census available for that County and State. Then it will give you the option of going to that Census.
