    2. I just returned from 10 days searching in Belmont, Monroe and Washington Co., courthouses and libraries. I had nothing but the best of help, if I needed it. Absolutely now hindrance in my research as I ran from probate to recorders office and back again. Gave them horrendous lists of deeds to copy No problem. After all I have heard on the various lists, I was a little concerned but I give these three counties A+ in research. Washington Co., even kept copies of some indexes put together by genealogists to help people in their research. I want to publicly thank and praise these resource centers for their help and understanding. Jerilyn

You can get a list of all the cemeteries in Monroe County at the GNIS search engine... http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html There are 65, I looked. Be sure you specify State name (Ohio), County name (Monroe) and Feature type (cemetery). Here's a sample... Feature Name St County Type Latitude Longitude USGS 7.5' Map - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Witten Cemetery OH Monroe cemetery 393518N 0805833W Paden City - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- It doesn't show them by township, but you can figure it out this way. 3. Hi all, While looking at the film for Monroe County births, I have noticed that multiple entries are reported by one individual. This coincides with information that I have been told, that one person made the rounds of the community and then reported it to Woodsfield. What has peaked my interest, is that frequently that individual has after his name the word Assessor. Does anyone know if that an appointed or elected position? or just a term? The reason I am so interested is that one reporter name for Ohio Township is John SHRIEV, Assessor. (Probably my John Shrieve of Ohio Township). Karen

    1. [OHMONROE-L] Ollam, Ollem, Ollom, Ollum
    2. Penny Husler
    3. Hello, I've been working on the Ollom family quite awhile and would like to share information with other descendents. I have a good deal more. The surname Ollom started right in Monroe County with Jacob. There are a few other Ollom's but they are rare and the given names are obviously Scandanivian. If you have corrections or can offer assistance especially with the missing Spouses or death dates and locations, I would appreciate it. If anyone has access to the Monroe Co., Cemetery transcriptions, I would like to know if any Olloms are buried in Ollom Cemetery. Thanks for reading, Penny Husler 1. Jacob Ulm/Ollum Jr. Born about 1761/62 in Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania. Jacob died in Monroe Co., OH on 1 May 1840; he was 79. Religion: born Lutheran. bef 1790 when Jacob was 29, he first married Mary (Ollom), in (, Bucks Co., PA). Born in WFT Est. 1755-1783. Mary died bef 1820; she was 65. Born in WFT Est. 1755-1783. The dates for his children are the best we can deduct and estimate from the material available to us. They had the following children: 2 i. Peter (1790-) (no further info) 3 ii. John (1795-1875) m. Susannah Harter) 4 iii. Margaret (1796-) m. ? Russell 5 iv. Eleanor (1797-) m. Aqulla Marlow 6 v. Joseph (1806-1843) m. Margaret "Peggy" Henthorn 7 vi. Jacob 3 (1806-1833) m. Unknown ? 2 daughters 8 vii. Isaac W. (1815->1890) m. Martha Simpson 9 viii. Jeremiah (ca1820-) (no further info) 10 ix. Benjamin B. (1821-1883) m. (Mary Harrison) On 10 May 1821 when Jacob was 60, he second married Sarah Ann Hawkenbury, in Tyler, (W) VA. Born in 1802 in PA. Born in 1790 in PA. Sarah Ann later married John S. Stewart moved to Meigs Co., and may have died in Procterville, Lawrence Co., OH aft 1880; she was 78 and living with Isaac. Isaac was probably also her son. We don’t know where Mary’s children stop and Sarah’s start. Some of the children are younger than her if her age is correct and it stayed the same or close on later Census info. There is a problem with there marriage date in that another Margaret Anna Hockenberry and Jacob Ullom of Dark Co. share the SAME date! I’m thinkin’ ….. ummmmmm …. "probably not." They had the following children: 11 i. William "Jackson" (1823-1881) (see Below) 12 ii. Matthew (1825-) (unknown) 13 iii. Mariah (1825-) (unknown) 14 iv.
