Try looking at: ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/census/oh/monroe/1820/ that is the directory. Try the index. It is taken directly from the Census itself. You realize of course that a minor child will not be listed by name in 1820. It isn't until the 1850 Census that other than the head of household was named. 3. To Joan Bivens, Looking for MERCKLE? Spelling may show up as MIRACLE. That is what I found out anyway. I found a Lawrence EDDY m. to Jemima MIRACLE/MERCKLE/MERICAL in Monroe Co., OH sometime in the 1860's. I guess it depended on how the census taker decided to write it. Hope this might help. There are MIRACLE descendents who helped me piece my connection together. If you have birth, death or marriage date for Mabel HALL and John MERCKLE please include. There were lots of John, Jesse and Jemima's in that lineage. You can write me if you like. 2. Please excuse my faux pas of last night. I am looking for Nancy VASS who married William NICHOLSON, but I gave the wrong time period. They were married ca.1825-1830 so the Census would have to be in the 1820 and there were no children's names given then. If anyone has any other data on this pair I surely would like to hear from you. My gr-grandmother, Nancy Ellen who married Thomas Green, was their granddaughter through their son William, b. ca 1828. Any leads apppreciated. Thank you. Marjory A. Austen

    2. Does anyone up there have time to do a look up for me? If I recall correctly, the names of the children appear in the records of this census. I need to know if a caughter by the name of Nancy, b. in VA, appears in this family in Washington Tp. They probably resided near the Nicholson family if it is the correct family.
