    1. [OHMONROE-L] William Dillon, 1840s, Monroe Co. OH
    2. Perry Adams
    3. I am looking for the William Dillon family that was living in Green Township in Monroe County, OH in the 1840s/1850s. William Dillon was born in OH about 1822. His wife was Elizabeth (?) perhaps born in VA about 1820. In 1850 census they had three sons. Abraham Dillon age 6, Henry age 4 and John age 3. All three boys born in OH. Also living in the same household in 1850 was an 80 year old lady by the name of Elizabeth Highly who was born in VA. She may have been the mother of the younger Elizabeth. In the mid 1850s the family moved to Lineville, IA (Wayne County) where William and Elizabeth donated land for a cemetery. Does anyone know this family? I am looking to link them to their proper ancestors. Thanks for help. Perry Adams

My first comment is that film quality for the 1850 and 1860 federal censuses varies greatly. If you get a chance to look at it at a different library or Family History Center, be sure to do so--you might chance onto a better copy. The library cataloging data for The Federal census of 1860 for Monroe County, Ohio . is a bit confusing to me. Here is what I have found: editor/compiler/whatever: Wilma S. Davis (whom, I suspect, has some connection with the Monroe County Historical Society) Publication year: 1957/1967/1987/1996 Publisher: the editor, or in the 1996 printing, Picton Press Perhaps your best bet for obtaining a copy of the print edition is to contact the Monroe County Historical Society. The Picton Press web site for its Ohio books (http://www.pictonpress.com/catalog/state_oh.htm) shows: - --------------------------------------------------------- MONROE COUNTY, OHIO, The Federal Census of 1860. Compiled by Wilma S. Davis. 608pp. 5½x8½, Perfect bound. Pub. jointly with The Monroe County Historical Society. 1996 (1957). #1751 $34.50 A complete verbatim transcript of the 1860 census for Monroe County, Ohio is reprinted here as a joint venture between The Monroe County Historical Society and Picton Press.
