    1. [OHMONROE-L] Re: [OHBELMON-L] need Belmont 1850 Census help
    2. Joanne I am searching for parents, siblings or anything about Phebe Starkey who married Robert Lappin in Belmont Co. 1828. She was born in Pennsylvania in abt 1810. I don't have time to pull up the file right now, but that is close. She died in Kansas. We have nothing on her family. Period. The Smith is Amos Smith and Mariam Davis were in Belmont and Monroe Co., until about 1856 when they moved to Wayne Co., Illinois. We now know he had a brother John who went to West Virginia and was in Monroe and Nobel County for a while, but trying to connect with others. His father was Aaron Smith and Amos was born in Bucks Co.. PA around 1880 or thereabouts. If this sounds familiar I will put exact dates out tomorrow. Thanks for inquiring. 1. [OHMONROE-L] Monroe Co. cemetery questions
    2. My 3x gr grandparents ( Asa and Mary Jane Robinson ) resided 1860s in Masterton (Bethel Twp) Monroe County with their son living nearby. The 1870 census shows the son now residing in Newport (Ludlow Twp) Washington County with his mother but father apparently deceased. Before planning a trip I need the expertise/insight of someone familiar with the area to answer a few questions. 1. what cemeteries were within this area during this time frame 2. are there cemetery readings available for them 3. is this area today within the National Forest 4. I would be trekking the area with another female researcher; is this a safe venture 5. I am aware of a courthouse fire during this same period; were ALL records lost or do wills, deeds and possibly newspapers available 5. where are detailed maps of the county designating secondary roads and cemeteries available Any and all suggestions and advice is welcomed. Thanks Cathy Robinson Wilmot

    3. Regarding the info that you will receive from the Probate Court in Monroe County; I have always received a copy of the original doc; I believe the fee is a dollar per page; requesting a certified copy means that the court will stamp it with their seal--you receive the same info; the certified copy means that you actually obtained it from the court. I suggest a quick call to the Probate office for the exact amount of money to send; They are most gracious and helpful to the public and are genealogy friendly. Sorry I don't have the phone number. 3. Sorry, the web sites are as stated, but can't go directly to them, I guess. Use this instead: <http://www.scioto.org/ALHN/> When there scroll down to "Ohio ALHN County Sites" and click on either "Alphabetical County Listings" or "Geographical Map." And then in the next site to come up, just click on the county you want. Many of them haven't been "adopted" yet and there is no info. to speak of. -- Bonnie Burkhardt <burkhard@flash.net> <bburkhardt@juno.com> Doris Forsyth wrote: > Hi, > > Belmont County said it no longer existed. 1. RE: [OHMONROE-L] Mary Knowlton Cline
    2. Dick and Betsy French
    3. Vera, Some of this information came out of a collaboration of Knowlton researchers and I'd have to really search my files to tell you which information came from whom. And some undoubtedly came from Linda Kay Anderson's comprehensive Cline genealogy. Thank you for providing the married names of some of the Cline daughters. My grandmother was a Knowlton-Cline by a different route a gener- ation later. There were so many Knowltons and Clines, their paths crossed many times. I have a lot more information about both lines, but a good deal is second-hand and undocumented; still, it's a starting place. I have Mary Margaret Knowlton as the daughter of William P. Knowlton (b. abt 1824, d. 10 Jan 1871?) and his second wife Mary Hooper (b. 1831, d/o Stephen Hooper and Priscilla Lefever). William Knowlton and Mary Hooper were married in Washington County OH on 12 April 1858. Mary Margaret Knowlton was born Dec 1869, died 1947. I have a different year for her marriage to Franklin Cline - 23 April, 1887 in Monroe County. I have Franklin born Jan 1867. Children of Franklin Cline and Mary Margaret Knowlton: ....i. Priscilla Cline..............b. 23 Jan 1888 Washington Twp, Monroe Co. OH ...ii. James Brady Cline......b. 30 Aug 1889 ..iii. John Thomas Cline.....b. 21 Jul 1891 ..iv. Edna L. Cline..............b. 11 Aug 1893 ...v. Cornelius Cline...........b. 15 Sep 1895 ..vi. Sarah E. Cline............b. 9 Feb 1898 .vii. Nellie Cline (Ellen?)....b. 15 Jun 1900 viii. Ferl Cline....................b. 21 Feb 1902 .ix. Earl Cline.....................b. 21 May 1905 ..x. Unknown (Hosea?)..... b. ? I sure hope all this is accurate. Just noticed that if the marriage date is correct, Priscilla was born nine months TO THE DAY from her parents' marriage.
