    1. [OHMONROE-L] Cline Reunion
    2. Harley Dakin
    3. A Cline reunion will be held in Mineral Wells West Virginia on June 23, 24, and 25. Attendees will include descendants of Alexander Cline of Monroe County and George Cline of Monroe County. While many of the descendants of George and Susanna Cline remained in the Monroe County area, many moved down the river and settled in or near Marietta and moved south into West Virginia. We hope to bring as many Cline descendants together as possible. The reunion will include a visit to the Elizabeth West Virginia museum (Wirt County) and a driving tour of local grave yards containing many Cline descendants. The event is scheduled for June 23, 24 and 25. Many activities including a Genealogy exchange is planned. Expect descendants from many of the counties throughout Ohio, West Virginia and other states. You need not be a descendent of any specific Cline family member to attend. Allied families welcome. For more information or an electronic newsletter describing the activities, email hpdakin@clover.net .

    1. [OHMONROE-L] Thomas HAYNE will dated 11Sept1844, Jefferson Co, OH ..wife a KING?
    2. Thanks to Harold Hooper, I have a copy of the will of Thomas Hayne/Haynes dated in 1844 in Jefferson Co, OH. The will does not list a wife but lists children; Charles, Thomas, King, Margaret, Isabella, Elizabeth, Nancy (Mary), and Mary Agnes. Could his wife been a King?? Does anybody anywhere know if the Charles listed above is the Charles Haines listed in the 1850 census for Monroe Co, OH, b ca 1796 in KY. This Charles Haines had a son named Thomas and one named King. The only Haines/Haynes in the 1850 Jefferson Co, OH census is a Charles W. Haynes b ca 1820 in RI. This Charles is probably too young to be the son of Thomas Hayne in the will. Harold says that Mary Agnes was supposedly born in KY too. Anybody know anything about a Francis Haynes who was married to an Isabella ??. Perhaps the parents of Thomas Hayne of the will. Any clues welcome.....Thanks Lyle Corder

    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: Remenyi, Laurie <mclaughlin.70@osu.edu> To: <OHMONROE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 22, 2000 8:51 AM Greetings, listmembers! I am a novice genealogist who is seeking information on my grandfather, Homer Leslie YOUNG. I have very little go to on, but will give you what I have. He was born 19-October-1904. My mother said he was born in Woodsfield, OH. She did not remember his parents' names but said that his mother had a French-sounding name and was an orphan. He had several brothers and sisters, of which I only know names: Brownie, Alice, Ruby (who married Ward CHANEY and settled in Nellie, OH), Edna (who married Wayne TENANT and settled in Gaylord, MI), Winona, and I believe Ina Mae. There was a family story of another child who was tossed out an upstairs window by a babysitter and killed. I don't know the accuracy of that. The family migrated to Coshocton County at some point (West Carlisle, Broomstick), and later to Newark, OH, where my grandfather married Fairy Jane STONER in 1927. They had one daughter, Barbara Maxine, who was my mother. I would greatly appreciate any information you have and, though I doubt I have any information of value, am more than willing to help anyone out. Thank you! This is just a hunch. I would appreciate any information you are willing to share on your Lloyd's perhaps there is a thread to pull it together. I would be glad to do the same. Above Ferry Street the river bottom is narrow and Market street here runs along the hill side there being only room between it and the river for Front street. These two streets are well built up with residences and a few business houses on Front Street wit the residences of two of the Physicians, Dr. WALTON and Dr. Habermehl. Walton, who is a prominent young attorney of the town and a member of the law firm of Weems, Walton & Cocke. Mr. Walton is a son of Judge R.K. Walton, and was born at Cameron, Ohio, on the 7th day of August, 1860. He moved with his parents to Clairington when quite young, where he attended the public schools until sufficiently educated to teach, when he engaged in that profession. A few years later he came to Woodsfield and served as deputy clerk of the Probate Court for six years, during his father's two terms as Probate Judge. In preparing for the practice of Law, Mr. Walton read with Hunter and Mallory at this place, and then attended law school at Cincinnati, graduating with high honors from that institution in 1886. Returning to this county he engaged in his chosed profession, and has succeeded in working up a good practice. As evidence of his worth and high standing in the community he has been elected Mayor of the town two times and has been twice appointed to fill vacancies in this office, making his service extend over a period of eight years, during which time he has given the very best of satisfaction. Mr. Walton was married in 1889 to Miss Laura Thornberry, eldest daughter of Mr. & Mrs. A.E. Thornberry, prominent citizens of this place, and owns a neat and nicely furnished home on Paull street. 1. [OHMONROE-L] William Dillon Family 1820s
    2. Perry Adams
    3. I am looking for the William Dillon Family. William was born in Ohio in 1821/1823. He may have been the grandson of Thomas Dillon who migrated from Ireland to Green County, PA before the Revolutionary War. Thomas’ name may have been Peter Dillon according to a compilation of Henry S. Dillon. Thomas (Peter) Dillon had six sons: Thomas, Abraham, William, Isaac, Israel and John. One of the six sons may have been my William Dillon’s father. This would make my William the grandson of the original Thomas or Peter Dillon. My William Dillon was living in Green township, Monroe County, Ohio in the 1850 census. William was shown as 27 in 1850, making his birth about 1821 to 1823 in Ohio. In that 1850 census, he and his wife, Elizabeth (?) had three sons. Elizabeth was born in PA. However, we question this as the 1860 census showed her born in VA. The three sons were: Abraham age 6, Henry age 4 and John age 3. Also living in the household was an 80 year old lady by the name of Elizabeth Highly born in VA. She may have been the younger Elizabeth’s mother. However, the name “Highly” may have been transcribed incorrectly. It may have been “Lively” I am looking to identify my William Dillon’s father. (William’s father may have been one of those six sons of Thomas (Peter) Dillon) I am also looking for the maiden name of William’s wife, Elizabeth and to trace her family. In the mid 1850s my William Dillon family moved to Lineville, Iowa (Wayne County). The family including the three sons continued to live in that area of Iowa, (Wayne County and Decatur County) until the three sons grew to adulthood. Both son Abraham and son Henry married in Lineville area. Abraham married Jane Galpin and Henry married her sister, Emmaline Galpin. Abraham raised his family in Lineville and Henry moved to Daviess County, MO where Henry’s daughter Bertha Dillon married George B. Adams in 1889 in Gallatin, MO. Henry died in Hamilton, MO (Caldwell County) in 1896. William Dillon and his wife Elizabeth donated land to Lineville as part of the Union Cemetery in the mid 1850s and one of the first people buried there was a baby with the last name of Galpin. Can anyone help me to link my William Dillon with his proper family and help me to identify his wife, Elizabeth. William and Elizabeth were my Great-great grandparents. Thank you for your help. 3. I am on my new computer and have none of my files to check, but I ran across this and think someone was looking for the SCOTTs a while back. From the Navigator, newsletter of the Monroe Co. Chapter/OGS John Scott Cemetery - Located in Washington Twp., Monroe Co., Ohio, SW 1/4 S23 T4 R6, on CR 73, approx. 2 miles NW of SR 537. It is in the corner of the field opposite Pleasant Ridge Cemetery and Church. A granddaughter of John Wesley Scott, Ida Coss, states that it is the old cemetery and that the church stood where John Wesley Scott is buried. Only 10 stones were identifiable; but probably more burials...approx. 40-50 depressions and remains of tombstones. Cemetery was read 14 Aug 1993 by Don and Sharon Cory Gardner. John W.
