I am searching to connect my William Dillon with his proper parents and ancestors. William was born in OH in 1822/1823. He may have been the son of a James DILLON who was living in Monroe County in the 1840 census. In that 1840 census, living with the James Dillon family was: 1 male under 5 1 male 5-10 2 males 10-15 1 male 15-20 -- this may have been my 18 year old William. 1 male 60-70 -- (James) 1 Female 5-10 1 female 10-15 1 female 50-60 (most likely James' wife) I understand there is a book out there on early Monroe County families that mentions the Dillon family. Does anyone out there have that book. If so, could they please check on my William Dillon. In the 1850 census, William and his wife Elizabeth were living in Monroe County, Green township. At that time they had three sons: Abraham age 6, Henry age 4 and John age 3. In the late 1850s, William and family moved to Wayne and Decatur County IA. where two of the sons, (Abraham and Henry) married. Thank you for your help in locating my Dillon ancestors. Perry Adams

We have a Joseph Buskirk in our line. He's the son of Oliphant & Sarah Harrison Buskirk - born about 1839 in Monroe Co. We've seen two references to a Joseph H Buskirk, JP (which we assume to be Justice of the Peace). Anyone have any idea how we'd go about finding out if this JP is our Joseph for certain? Thanx, Nancy & Ross
Anyone have access to detail of 1860 & 1870 Monroe Co Census? Need to see household of Oliphant and Sarah Buskirk to verify ages of children. They lived in Adams Twp at least up until & including the 1850 Census, but show up in Salem Twp in 1880 - which might have been due to a change of twp boundries. I'd sure be beholden to ya. Thanx, Nancy

This is a very good web site to search for places which have had name changes. If you use the site, make sure you click in the dot for "YES" to use variants of the name. This morning, for instance, I was looking for Baresville in Monroe Co. and found that Baresville, along with a few other names, are variants for the current Hannibal, OH.

Hi! We're researching the Buskirk line. Here's are lineage: Samel D Buskirk married Martha Williams; son Oliphant married Sarah Ann Harrison; their son, John Harvey, married Amanda Thomas; they begat William S, who married Lucy Bumgardner; which brings us to Ross K who married Roberta Crozier. Ross & "Bertie" now live in Smithville, IL. Other early Buskirks were Oliphant's other sons, Joseph, Stephen, Noah P, Van Buren and Dennis. Daughter Martha married John Wise. Oliphant and son, Noah were both Doctors - Oliphant in Clarington and Noah in Round Bottom. Dennis' claim to fame was his involvement with the 'Spirit of Democracy'. We'd love to hear from anyone who has any information on these people from our past. Sincerely, Nancy Albritton/Ross L Buskirk
