Don't know why Sidney and Elizabeth went to court over property, though. Do know that Vincent is said to have died while Sidney was still pregnant with their last child, ironically also named Charles. I have a picture apiece of Robert and Reuben's tombstones. I believe Robert and Vincent would have been my 2nd greatuncles. Chuck

What makes it harder for me on my line is William Sturgeon, Vincent's brother, puts his wife and children on a raft in 1840, floats downriver to what becomes Mason County, WV. His mother dies in 1849, brother in 1859 and he only has contact with sister Elizabeth Sturgeon McDowell one time before he dies in 1899. Needless to say, doesn't leave much to go on. Thanks again. Sturgeon, age 18 In "Family Research in Monroe Co., OH, Vol. 2, Part 1" by Catherine Fedorchak there is a big write up about the family of William Atkinson. Have you seen that? She mentions an old tombstone in Clarington Cemetery that was marked "Robert Sturgeon departed this life Jan. 22, 1829, in the 13th year of his age."

I should have said my GGGrandfathers maternal grandmother, Mary McCoy Atkinson, Not Mary Sturgeon. Anyway the dates for the individuals I was hoping to find were Vincent Sturgeon: 1818-abt. 1859 or Elizabeth Atkinson Sturgeon 1790-1849. There are no obits. I looked in the other Clarington Cemetery, Vincent and Elizabeth weren't found there. Don't know where else they would be, one of them could be the unreadable tombstone I found, but which one? Chuck

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/SWB.2ACE/1069.2.1 Message Board Post: Thanks Bonnie for your help. Unfortunately, the previous response didn't help. The site mentioned doesn't include this cemetery and I live in west Tennessee. The url you listed was very interesting. It is believed that the Mary Atkinson, mother of William and Thomas mentioned buried in the cemetery was my GGGrandfather's sister, Mary Sturgeon. Rubin is actually listed with the wrong age. He was 49. I have seen the tombstone and it is very worn, so is understandable. Unfortunately, one of the tombstones that was listed as unreadable is what I was hoping to find out about. Last name of Sturgeon can be made out but first name is unreadable. Was hoping it was either Vincent, Rubin's son or Elizabeth, Rubin's wife. Tried to read the tombstone as a negative, but couldn't. Doesn't help that it is made of some sort of granular stone, at least it looks that way. Well, anyhow, thanks again for your help. Chuck

I had tracked them forward to the 1850 census only(Monroe county, Centre twp., p.467, under Shoub). I've just looked at the 1860 census and everything fits. Here is my family tree for Elizabeth- http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=PED&db=jstrimb&id=I09904 The Dauber/Dauenhauer line goes back to the early 1600's and is available in church books that have been transcribed for Pirmasens and surrounding villages. Dauber and Schaub lines both go back to the 1500s Switzerland through Bintz. Transcribed church records available with additional research done by Andrea Kindelberger. The Bintz/Klein line will connect with the Neuharts and Wagners who go back to the 1400's in the Palatinate. I really felt like I hit the jackpot when I discovered these records, thanks to Andrea. Would like to exchange info...email me at [email protected] PS. I have a Yockey family in Brown county...starts with Frederick born 1824 France/Alsace...got anything on him?
