I follow the Dillon queries on this Monroe site because I once ran across the name James Dillon when reading something about my father's mother's ancestors and I can't remember where I read that. So, have been following the Hagerman-Dillon discussions. Noted that one mentioned that John Hagerman's first wife was Hannah Dillon and that his second was C. (for Clara?) Augusta Terry and that he wed both in Lawrence Co., OH. One of my 3rd gt gmo's was an Elizabeth Terry Baker and she and her husband, my 3rd gt gfa, James O. Baker migrated to Raccoon Twp., Gallia Co., OH in the mid 1830's and were there until before the 1850 census, where they are found across the county line in Bloomfield Twp., Jackson Co., OH. Of course since Jackson and Lawrence Co.'s share a common border, I am wondering if Augusta's father, James C. Terry, may have been related to my Elizabeth. I have been unable to find any Terrys in surrounding counties who appear at the time my folks migrated. It seems that James C. Terry may have migrated about the same time per the ages of his children according to whom was b. in VA and then later OH. So I am curious about this C. Augusta Terry who is listed as James C.'s daughter in the 1850 and 1860 Lawrence Co. censuses. Also for the middle initial of this John Hagerman: the Lawrence Co., OH genealogy site has a listing of brides and grooms but not the actual marriage dates, just the numbers for the pages in the county marriage books where the marriages are listed. Both, firstly, Hannah Dillon (the # given is 8--349) and secondly, C. Augusta Terry (the # given is 555) are listed as having wed a John L. (that is as in the alphabet sequence J-K-"L") Hagerman. I did look up John and Clara A. Hagerman in the 1880 Orange Co., Fl census and his middle initial looks likean "L" or a "Q" to me. I looked on the previous census page and could find no "L" for comparison but did find the name "Lucy Clark" on the page that was 2 pages before the one the Hagermans are on. The bottom part of the L (for Lucy) looks to me like the bottom part of the initial for John's middle name. Of course the pages I looked at were a bit hard to read and we know how that is with these censuses. I gather from various queries and responses about this matter that the initial is a "Q." Has anyone gotten copies of or has anyone seen the original Lawrence Co. marriage licenses to see if the letter is an L, Q or what? Maybe the John L . Hagerman on those marriage licenses is not the John Q. in the Orange Co. census. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with info on Winona Belle Hagerman and her descendants and whether those persons know anything about James C. Terry. Will gladly share Terry info. Thanks. Hey folks, sorry but don't remember if I've ever posted anything on these two families here. I am attempting to look for information on Vandiver Kelly Darrah and two different Henthorn women. The first was Mary Henthorn who was born about 1866 I believe in Monroe County, Ohio and passed away shortly after 1890 in Marshall County, West Virginia. Mary married Vandiver on July 24, 1883. The two of them had the following children. Sylvester b April 15, 1884, Rose Violet Darrah b Sept 4, 1887 and Edward b April 5, 1890. After Mary's passing Vandiver went on to marry Hannah Henthorn on Sept 7, 1893 in Monroe County, Ohio. I currently have no other information on her. I have spoken with both Monroe County, Ohio and Marhsall County, West Virginia Probate Offices and neither are able to find any kind of death record for her. However on August 15, 1895 Vandiver went on to his third marriage. After having Six children with his third wife, rumor is that in August of 1917 he packed his things and left home leaving both wife and children. I was told by a granddaughter of the eldest daughter of the third marriage that she believed Vandiver stayed somewhere around the Monroe / Marshall Counties. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I am looking to identify the names of the male children of James DILLON who are found in the 1840 census for Perry Township, Monroe County, Ohio. The James DILLON is shown as being between the ages of 60 and 70 which ties in with the age shown in the 1850 census for him. In the 1850 census, James was living with son Thomas DILLON age 21. The 1840 Perry Township, Monroe County Ohio census shows male children as being: 1 male under age 5 1 male between the ages of 5-10 2 males between the ages of 10 -15 1 male between the ages of 15 - 20 1 male between the ages of 60-70 I am trying to locate the parentage of William DILLON born in 1822 in Ohio. He would fit in as being the 1 male between the ages of 15-20 shown above. So I am looking to identify all the male children of James DILLON shown above. thank you for your help. Perry Adams
