As far as the high school part of it, I know it closed in 1955, as that is when the new River High School started. I went 1 yr. to Sardis, and 3 years to River graduating in 1957. They built a new high school at Hannibal when the Ormet plant purchased the first River. It was at Buckhill Bottom above Hannibal. The River school still exists at Hannibal. They kept the Clarington school open for grade school. I have e-mailed a lady I graduated with. She was from Hannibal and she might be able to remember when it was closed. 1. [OHMONROE] Fw: Vincent E. Dillon (1847-1910)
    2. Henry Dillon
    3. I am looking for the gravesite for Vincent E. Dillon. He died in Lewisville in 1910. He was born in the Lewisville area and as far as I know he lived in the Lewisville area all of his life. He is well documented in the various censuses. I have been told that he has a grave marker in the Burkhart Cemetery. However, the only Burkhart / Hamilton Cemetery that I know about does not include a grave marker for Vincent E. Dillon. Henry S. Dillon

    3. River High School was established in 1954 and the first graduating class was in 1955. Students from Clarington were consolidated with students from other communities into River High. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <OHMONROE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 16, 2007 11:17 PM Subject: [OHMONROE] Salem High School - Clarington > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: oldohioschools > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.monroe/2271/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Hello, > I was wondering if anyone knows the year the old Salem High School in Clarington was abandoned? 1. Re: [OHMONROE] DNA matches - my Monroe Co. DILLON family
    2. Randi Meetzen
    3. Good job! We have done DNA as well to supplement our family research. Although it has not yet resulted in a surname match, it has still been helpful because it has shown us where NOT to look. A lot of time has been saved by not " barking up the wrong tree" by researching a line with same surname but no "relation" Congrats on finding matches. Randi Bowles Meentzen Henry Dillon <hsdlsd@earthlink.net> wrote: Though I was initially very interested, I was somewhat dubious of obtaining such compelling evidence. But after attending a couple of workshops last fall, I located two other distantly related individuals whose families I had known about for nearly 20 years. A paper trail connection to their families and to my Dillon family had some gaps but seemed to point to a likely connection. Recent testing of myself and these distant cousins has resulted in a 90-95% probability of a connection of our families in the past 4-8 generations. Our independent research had previously suggested the liklihood of a connection 6 generations back. One family was from Monroe Co., the other from Coshocton Co. Just input for anyone who has ever thought about including DNA to assist in their family research. Henry S. 3. Look for them in Greene, Washington, or Fayette counties in PA prior to 1820. Most Monroe county residents migrated there from SW PA when the county was formed about 1820.
