    3. I am not happy about this. I received the following message this morning. Please protest this short-sighted move, if you want. Perhaps if they hear from enough us, Ancestry will reverse course. To comment on this draconian move, send your message to rwmailinglists@ancestry.com or contact Ancestry via 1-800-615-6560. For other methods, such as mail, visit https://www.ancestry.com/corporate/contact-us. Aaron J. Hill aaronjhill.wordpress.com From RootsWeb Administration <rwmailinglists@ancestry.com> Tue 1/7/2020 9:36 AM Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team

    3. My shoutout/quasi dead end is two-fold: First - Henry Weaver and his wife Rachel (Chapman) Weaver - both born abt 1792. I know they were born in northern Virginia in the vicinity of Winchester/Berryville and were married there in 1832 then about 1844 moved their family to Monroe Co., OH. Only census is 1850 and the family was in Wayne Twp. I have been able to trace most of their kids (Samuel Bonham Weaver - my 2nd g-grandfather, Elizabeth, Mary F, James, George W) but I have YET to figure out WHEN/WHERE Henry and Rachel died and where they are buried! Probably NOT the Henry Weaver/Webber who's obit is in the Spirit of Democracy in 1878 as the death record for that person said he was born in Germany and not Virginia. Second - My 3rd g-grandfather, Commodore Perry Wiggins, born 1824 in Monroe Co. Know quite a bit about him but NOTHING on possible siblings or parents. Conjecture is that his father was a Philip who may have married a Phoebe Steeds in Washington Co. abt 1805, but have NO proof. Pretty much have ruled out the Philip Wiggins who married a Sarah Rose - that line is well documented and just doesn't fit. Thanx Trip Wiggins Fredericksburg, VA (formerly from OH)

    3. Probably most of you Monroe Co OH folks are familiar with the Monroe Co web site that was made by Richard Harrington and was on rootsweb until last November when ancestry began its "fixing" process. Haven't been able to get to it since. http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~harringtonfamilies/index.htm Mr. Harrington is in the process of putting the information on a new web site. Not done. In the process. But so many of us have posted families there, it would be a good place for researchers to check out. Start here then go to family trees. https://reharr.github.io/MCGen/ The Monroe Co OH trees I have posted there are: Herlan Kenney/Kinney * Kinkade * Latta * Mendenhall * Mercer Morris, Henry Gustler Morris Morris6, Thomas B. Morris * Schaub * Schell Schell2 * When you click on any of the families posted, they are searchable. I have found and posted hundreds of obituaries for descendants on these trees. Usually you can click on the word "obit" behind a name and it will take you to the specific obituary. During the making-new-website process this only works on the trees with asterisks as of today; the others you would have to go to the year yourself and find alphabetically there. To do this you would first have to back-up a page to where you selected "family trees" and instead click on "obituaries." Then you get a list of years and a list of over 20,000 names. Hopefully this hyperlinking issue will get figured out. So many of you Monroe Co researchers have contributed to Dick's web site. I was especially interested in your mention of DNA. Do you know if any project has ever been done on the Stewarts? Are you familiar with the "Encyclopedia Biographical of the counties of Monongalia, Marion and Taylor (WV)," page 138-139, which outlines the ancestry of Frank Ross Stewart. It states John Stewart came to America about 1760 from Scotland. He settled near Philadelphia and had a son named Isaac born ca 1775. Isaac moved to Fayette County and later to Greene and had a son named James who married Mary Blair. If this is accurate, then the Isaac who is said to be one of the four sons of Daniel, is actually the son of John Stewart. As to the marriage of possible first cousins, I have come across other marriages of first cousins in that time frame, so it wouldn't impossible. There is, as you know, no evidence linking these Stewart men as siblings, so they could also be more distantly related. Wasn't it just a theory in Leckey's book? It would be exciting to finally figure out this Stewart family! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. A library in Houston, Texas has a copy. I can't find it listed in WorldCat, a worldwide database of library catalogs. You could ask your local library to request a copy via interlibrary loan. http://halan.library.link/resource/LWsioeafyic/ http://www.worldcat.org/ Aaron Hill Seattle On 5/25/2016 9:08 PM, Rick Wilson via wrote: > Does anyone have a copy of the following book they would like to sell (or perform a look up)? > > "Now We Are Americans" by Martha Winland Price, published 1996. > > Thanks, > Rick Wilson

    3. Rick Is it possible the book was published under a different title. There is a book in the New Martinsville, West Va. public library titled "Women's History" by Martha Price. It is in the reference library there, does not circulate. My family is related to the Windland's of Monroe County, Ohio. I would be interested if you are successful in locating the book. "Now We Are Americans" by Martha Winland Price, published 1996. I am interested in knowing all the types of records accessed or cited by the author for the Winlands while they lived in Nippenose Township, Lycoming, Pennsylvania. Specifically, I am interested in any documents that might list children either by name or count other than family trees. I understand that many trees list six children (Jacob, Catherine Maria, William, John, Susannah, and Sarah), but I am fairly confident that there was at least one more girl that remains unaccounted for because she and her husband did not move to Monroe County, Ohio and thus were not on my early researcher's radar. 3. You could try googling it. I found this one post: http://boards.ancestry.ca/surnames.windlandt/2/mb.ashx?pnt=1 And this one which I had to translate with Google https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=sv&u=http://boards.ancestry.se/thread.aspx%3Fo%3D10%26m%3D1148.2.1.2.1.1.2.1%26p%3Dlocalities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.monroe&prev=search You might try a library search through your library....there is a wider search you can do also, but I don't remember what it is called. But you can go to your library and see if it is available through another library even one in another state. I think from the Google search there is a copy at the Houston Library. Maybe available through the Mormon church if it is in digital form.
