    3. I have also found many of my surnames at the http://search.labs.familysearch.org website. You have to be very creative when searching. Try the last name only, or first name only if it is somewhat different, then narrow the search by clicking male or female only, or some of the other fields in the drop down boxes. The Ohio Death Certificates are a goldmine of information, even if that information is sometimes incorrect it can give you clues to other routes in your search. I anxiously await any additions to the site. Are you refering to the followiing site?? If so, at least so far, I haven't had any luck there.? I have put in many names from my family history and never get any results... even for names and info I already have and know to exist. labs.familysearch.org Clark Gertner [snip] Reply from Pamela Wells: If you have German roots you will likely find a plethora of information at the http://search.labs.familysearch.org website . I have found over 50 new records posted there for my BUBECK family surname from the Darke County, OH area along with many death certificates for my WELLS ~ LAUTENSCHLAGER ~ SHERIDAN ~ BAISCH ~ DAVI(D)SON & REEVES families. It really depends on your luck of finding the surnames you're researching....it is worth a try to check it out for yourselves. You might just find that missing treasure. <grin> Happy hunting for all your family treasures, Pamela WELLS nee ROBERSON Blowing Rock, NC orginally from Dayton, OH Family Website: http://wellsp.tribalpages.com ------------------------------ To contact the OHMIAMI list administrator, send an email to OHMIAMI-admin@rootsweb.com. 3. Another great way to search the Ohio Death certificates is to use the advanced search and put in one or both parents' names or just the parents' surnames. The parent may have died before there were death certificates in Ohio, but frequently, the children's death certificates don't come up under their names or if it is a daughter, you may not know her married name and it will come up under one of the parents' names. The reverse also works. If you don't know the parent's name, the child was often the informant and the parent will come up under one of the children's names. Siblings' names will often bring up another sibling or the parent since they were often the informants. Also, I have found on there that you have to try a variety of spellings. If a name is misspelled on the certificate, that's the way it has to be searched so vary the spellings.
