I've seen several people mention that their families went west to IN or IL. I wondered if anyone knows a specific reason. Some of my Wyatt ancesters moved from Shelby County, OH to Bunker Hill, IN in 1871. My Smith great grandparents and all their children (both single and married) moved from Piqua, Miami County, OH to Harvey, IL around 1890. Some of the Wyatts eventually ended up in the Chicago area as well. I assume the move to IL was to get jobs with the railroad (as several of them did), however I wondered if there was another reason people were leaving Shelby and Miami counties during this time period.
