    3. Hi Susan, Ancestry does not USE anyone's research. They offer server space for anyone who wants to put it there. They do nothing to it, the only changes made are those the contributor makes themselves. The only one to own the information is the contributor. Ancestry has no claim to it. The Ancestry World Trees are free to search as well as the 1880 US census, the SSDI and a few other databases. I hope this answers your question.
