    3. That is right The Redmans Hall is on the second floor of a building one block east of the square in Troy. They also have a park on a farm a few miles west of Troy. 3. The Redman's Lodge is an interesting organization, historically speaking. It is my understanding that they are an offshoot of the Sons of Liberty. I think that members of the Sons of Liberty were responsible for the Boston Tea Party. This is a very old organization with its roots in the foundation of this country. I believe one of the cornerstones of this organization was mutual aid. Before there was insurance available to protect a family a Fraternal organization provided a man protection for himself and his family. The bylaws outlined a mutual aid benefit that covered his illness, injury or death. They paid a dues that acted as a pooled resource in case anyone was unable to work. The bylaws stipulated the guidelines for reimbursement. Also the Lodge supported cultural events and good works in the community. The ceremonies of the Lodge were based on the ideals that the colonists admired in the Indian Nations.
