    3. Thanks to everyone for your input. I have checked the online sites - no leads there, but there were some fruitless inquiries back in the late '90s. I do hypothesize that my James Wade Haworth was likely a grandson of James and Ann (Coppock) Haworth (who had 16 children, the first half or so of whom were born in SC), but I haven't been able yet to make the connection. Last night, I ran across a document in my great uncle's papers that looks like it was copied from a book about the McCord family (who later married into James Wade's line), and it says James Wade's father was named "John Buck Haworth" (I believe there was a "John" among James and Ann's 16 children, so I'll have to follow that lead). However, I don't have a source for this info. Another thing that confounds the search is that public recorders (like census takers and such) often inserted a "y" into the name, making it "Hayworth," so I've learned that I have to check both spellings. I think I'm also going to have to check in Darke Co, as it is right next door to Miami Co and there were some Haworths there as well. Thanks again to everyone - if you see anything that looks promising, please let me know!
