Hello Listers, I am need of some serious help locating some Burbridges and possibly a marriage or two within this family. Sarah Burbridge was enumerated in Champaign Co. 1850 with the following children: Andrew Burbridge, age 26 in 1850 Champaign Co. Thomas Burbridge, age 22 in 1850 Champaign Co. Elysia Burbridge, age 18 in 1850 Champaign Co. Robert Burbridge, age 16 in 1850 Champaign Co. I am seeking to find these people in marriages and in the 1860 census maybe in adjacent counties to Champaign. Andrew later marries an Isabella Jane Downs and is found in 1860 census in Newton Co., MO under the name of BURBAGE. I have yet to find the marriage record or place for him and his wife. Any help is appreciated! I'm checking the adjacent counties around Champaign Co. so PLEASE if you have a minute to check for marriages in the your county I would be so grateful. You will have to go to the county that they were married in to get the answer you need. I don't believe there are any records of marriages in that frame time on line or in a book form that you can check. (Due to privacy laws) Need to find where they have the marriage records at (Court House or Health Dept). They may also have a record of the Bill of divorce at the same office. But need to go to the County seat of the county.) Speaking of the Boyer line .. My great great grandmother was Cecil Boyer, born about 1828 somewhere in Canada. She married Alexis Monet, also born in Canada. Their son was Herman Monnett, born 26 January 1856 in Canada and died in 1902 in Toledo, Ohio. He was married to Celina LaPlante who was also born in Canada and died in Toledo. In the 1880 Darke County census there is a Lyman Boyer age 8 son of Michael, 36 and Ellen Boyer, 36 - other children Lucy 14, Ollie 12, Esta 10, Harry 6, Kate 2 all born in Ohio In the 1900 census Michael and Ellen are still in Darke County - no children listed - He was born in Jan 1842 and she in Oct 1841 she had 6 children and 4 are still living and they have been married 33 years - both were born in Ohio but both their fathers were born in Pa. Hi all, I'm looking for info on Francis Plumb. He was born Aug 1796 in England. He came to Philadelphia 23 Jul 1819 with William Plumb who I assume is his brother, but no proof. The next time I find him is in the 1850 census in Miami County, Ohio as a single man. Then in the 1860 census with a much younger wife (Sarah) and 3 children (Francis, Richard, & Maria - at least one more child, William is born after 1860). He dies in Feb 1870 and is buried in Casstown Cemetery. Between his arrival in the US and the 1850 census, I can not find him (at least in Miami County). And after his death, I can not find his wife. Hi all, Thanks again for all your wonderful interest - as some of you suggested, my James Wade Haworth was the son of Joseph C, who was the son of James Wade and Anna (Coppock) Haworth. What was throwing me off was that I had only looked at one census record (1850), and I had prematurely dismissed that James because the age was a bit off. In the 1860 census, however, his age and all the other details were spot on, plus he was the only possible James in all of Ohio and Indiana that could have been my guy. I have also discovered more about Joanna Wax and her family on the genealogy boards that you all mention. With this link, I am able to use the Haworth Association database to follow the rest of the story back to some of the first Quaker families who immigrated to America from England, including George Haworth and Aaron & Moses Coppock, the earliest immigrants to PA from County Cheshire in England. This is very exciting to me - and also exciting to the Haworth Association, who can now add a missing family line to their research. I've seen the Union Cemetery website and the Miaimi County genealogical websites - now I'll have to visit Miami County for myself in the next month or so to "walk the ground." Take care, all.
I believe your James Wade Haworth was the son of Joseph C. Haworth b 18 Jul 1817 d 11 Aug 1898 and his first wife Elizabeth "Betty" Coate b 29 Aug 1812. I do not have her death date but it was prior to 29 Aug 1874 when he married a second time to Victoria Gall. There is a marker in the Old Union Cemetery in Newton Twp., Miami Co., OH for Joseph, but not for his wives. His will #10524 filed 3 Sep 1898 should hold the clues that you need. Joseph was the 13th of 16 children born to James Haworth and Ann Coppock. Their 12th child was Wade, so the names given to your grandfather were both Haworth family names. The only problem that I see is, Joseph and Betty did have a daughter Mary, but her married name in the estate papers is Raymond. Of the 4 sons of James and Anna who remained in the Miami Valley, Joseph is the only one to have given a son the name of James. I do hypothesize that my James Wade Haworth was likely a grandson of James and Ann (Coppock) Haworth (who had 16 children, the first half or so of whom were born in SC), but I haven't been able yet to make the connection. Last night, I ran across a document in my great uncle's papers that looks like it was copied from a book about the McCord family (who later married into James Wade's line), and it says James Wade's father was named "John Buck Haworth" (I believe there was a "John" among James and Ann's 16 children, so I'll have to follow that lead). However, I don't have a source for this info. Another thing that confounds the search is that public recorders (like census takers and such) often inserted a "y" into the name, making it "Hayworth," so I've learned that I have to check both spellings. I think I'm also going to have to check in Darke Co, as it is right next door to Miami Co and there were some Haworths there as well.
