His name is included in a group of men and their families who were among the early settlers of Homer Twp, this having been in the very early 1830's, locating in the southeastern part of the township. I found the name mentioned again on page 347 where it lists participants from the county who enlisted for service during the Civil War. Included with those from Medina Twp is: SOLOMON SMITH, Co. H, 8th O.V.I., enlisted June 1861; killed in service. I also checked my Medina Co. tombstone book, and found this group buried together: Pg 185 N.W. June 1, 1854 " , Infant son, d. Sept. 5, 1857 " , Infant dau., d. Jan. 18, 1859 " , Infant dau., d. Jan 17, 1846 " , James D., Nov. 26, 1853 - 6y4m2d There are no Levitt grave markers listed in the county, but some Leavitt and Levet and one Lefette stones.
