I am interested in Herman. Canfield who was a state Senator for Ohio 1856-1860. I believe he had a residence in Medina Co . The Medina History of 1881 shows Hon. Herman Canfield as Lieut. Colonel Herman Canfield of Medina Co who was killed at Shiloh in 1862and his remains interred there and then brought back to Medina Co. A newspaper item of 1885 shows "Corporation officers Herman Canfield , mayor...... My interest lies in Herman Canfield's family , who his wife and children were..if there was a son Herman, who his wife was. I would also like to know if he was the Herman Canfield who maintained a residence in French Creek, Avon Twsp. Lorain Co in the 1850's. Most of all, Who is the H. Canfield shown on the tombstone of Rachel Morgan Canfield d. 1875 interred in the Butternut Ridge Cemetery of Eaton Twsp Lorain Co. Any help would be most appreciated... Marilyn Canfield
