Karen Helen Reusch Helen Reusch, 101, of Pinehurst, N.C., formerly of Lodi, passed away Monday, June 18, 2001, at Aberdeen Health & Rehab in Aberdeen, N.C. She was born April 21, 1900, in Helvatia, Pa., to Frank & Mary Imdorf. Mrs. Reusch grew up in Cleveland and in 1926, she married Earl Reusch in Valley City. They moved to Lodi in 1944, where they resided until moving to Pinehurst in 1990. She was a homemaker as well as an accomplished oil painter. She was a former member and past nobel grand of the Lodi Rebekah Lodge. Mrs. Reusch is survived by her daughters, Marian (Lloyd) Stayton of Pinehurst and Lois (Jerry) Putka of Lodi; sons, Norman of Lodi, Donald of Leslie, Mich., and Dale of West Salem; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, and daughter and son in law, Earlene and Robert Howell. Service: 11 am Saturday at Parker & Son Funeral Home 210 Medina St., Lodi. The Rev. Robert Holmes will officiate. Burial Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi. Visiting hours: 7 to 9 pm today at the funeral home. ******************* Mrs. Gunkelman Dies On Thursday Mrs. Kate Gunkelman, who was in her 86th year, died at her home at Miners Corners, early Thursday morning, after suffering a stroke. Her husband, John died five years ago. Funeral services will be held at the late residence at 2 o'clock and at Zion's Lutheran Church at 2:30 o'clock on Saturday. Rev. C.W. Kemrite will be in charge and burial will be in Zion's church cemetery. Mrs. Gunkelman, who had lived on the home farm for 46 years, leaves five children: Mrs. Helen Bauman of State Road, Dan at home, Fred of the south pike, Robert of Medina and Edmund at Miners Corners; also a brother, Henry Schnabel of Columbia. ************************ Sarah Ann Kruggel Dies In Litchfield Funeral services were held in the Litchfield Baptist Church Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Sarah Ann Kruggel. Rev. Charles F. Hart officiated and burial was in the Litchfield cemetery. Mrs. Kruggel, who was 79, died early Tuesday morning at her home in Litchfield. She had been a resident of the community for 60 years. She leaves five daughters, Mrs. maude Self of California, Mrs. Lulu Rising and Lille and Minnie all of Litchfield, and Mrs. Ruth Haysack of Parma; a son, Paul of Litchfield; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. John McQuate of Middletown and Mrs. Jane Lip of Lorain. ********************** BARTH - - At Lodi Community Hospital on Monday, Sept. 18, Mrs. Agnes Barth of Litchfield, aged 84 years. Funeral services at the Litchfield Congregational Chuch on Thursday Sept. 21, conducted by Rev. John MacDuffie; burial at Litchfield cemetery. ****************** Rites Are Set For J.H. Barth Ill four years, Joseph H. Barth of Litchfield died early Monday at the county home residence of his son, Myron, superintendent of the home, at 93 years. Mr. Barth was born in Liverpool township, but had resided in Litchfield over 50 years. He was a member of the Litchfield Masonic Lodge and was a retired farmer. His wife, Agnes, died two years ago. Surviving is another son, Alvin of Litchfield; a daughter, Mrs. Marie Heiser of North Olmstead; six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Services in charge of Rev. Robert W. Searles will be held Wednesday at 2 pm at the Gensemer Funeral home with burial in the Litchfield Cemetery. Masonic services will be held Tuesday at 8:30 pm. Calling hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 pm. ********************** Marion L. Barth Marion Louverne Barth, 89, of Litchfield, died Thursday, March 5, 1987, at Ohio Pythian Sisters Home, Medina. Born in Litchfield, she was a lifetime resident of Medina County. She was a homemaker and a member of Litchfield Church of Christ, Ladies Benevolent Society, in which she held many offices, charter member and past matron of Litchfield Eastern Star Lodge 420 nad Litchfield Grange 1860. Mrs. Barch is survived by her sons, Dr. Howard J. of Palm Bay, Fla. and Stanley R. of Litchfield; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Burial: Litchfield Cemetery Visiting Hours: 4 to 9 pm Saturday, with Eastern Star service at 8 pm ., Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City. ******************** Clara Sylvester Rites On Saturday Clara R. Sylvester, wife of Fred O. Sylvester of Granger township, died in Fairview Park Hospital, Cleveland, Wednesday night, where she had been taken Sunday morning for observation. She was 61 years of age. Funeral services will be held at the Waite Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Mr. Updegraff, and burial will be in Granger cemetery. Besides a husband she leaves eight children, Thomas of Sharon, Ellsworth at home, Mary Shaver of Granger, Agnes Thompson of Granger, Helen Yost of Granger, Addie Davidson of Strongsville, Mabel Feather of Toledo and Edith Graves of Strongsville. A brother, Verne Hippensteel of South Carolina and six grandchildren also survive. ****************** Fred O. Sylvester Fred Odell Sylvester, a descendant of the pioneer Sylvester family of Granger township, died at his home there Saturday after a long illness. He was 87. His entire life was spent in Granger. Services in charge of Rev. Lewis M. Hunter will be held Tuesday at 2 pm at the Waite Funeral Home with burial in Granger Fairview cemetery. Mr. Sylvester leaves a son, Thomas of Granger, and six daughters, Mrs. Mary Shaver of Medina, Mrs. Helen Yost and Mrs. Agnes Thompson of Granger, Mrs. Addie Davidson and Mrs. Edith Graves of Strongsville and Mrs. Mabel Feather of Grand Rapids, O. Also, 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, Aug 31, 1938 and a son, Ellsworth, March 21, 1957. **************** Orth -- At the home of her son, Wm. Orth, in Abbeyville on Feb. 28, Mrs. Eve Orth, aged 82 years. Funeral at Mt. Zion Church, Liverpool, March 3 at 2 pm. *************** PHILIP ORTH AUTO VICTIM "Hit-Skip" Driver Deals Him Fatal Blow In Road Near Home LIVES THREE HOURS AFTER ACCIDENT Funeral Services are Set for This Tuesday Afternoon Philip G. Orth, 71, living just outside the north boundary of Medina, fell victim to a "hit-skip" automobile driver Saturday evening. He died of injuries inflicted when a machine hit him as he was walking in the CCC highway toward his home just before 7 o'clock, lingering in pain for three hours before passing away. The machine never hesitated and Orth was picked up by passing drivers, who found him in the road before John Pearson's place, both legs broken and great gashes cut, in his head. Unable to Move Him Dr. H.P,H. Robinson was summoned to give aid when it was found impossible to move Orth from the road, so severe was the pain caused by efforts to move him. Waite's ambulance was called to convey hinm to his home, a few hundred feet distant, after Dr. Robinson had given him first aid. Driver Flees Orth, who had made his home just north of town for more that a score of years, was deaf and is believed to have been startled by the approach of a macine and possibly to have stepped into its path, rather than away from the oncoming automobile. However, the driver of the car, who must have known that he hit something, did not halt to investigate or to give hdlp, but fled. Besides his wife, Orth is survived by two sons, Frank Orth, of Detroit, Mich., and Dr. Carl Orth, of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted in the Orth home at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. J.P. Brereton officiating and with burial in Spring Grove cemetery. **************** Orth - At his home in Liverpool, Apr 15, Philip Orth, aged 88 years. **************** Harold V. Tritt Harold V. Tritt, 78, of Valley City, died Friday, May 28, 1982, at Medina Community hospital after a brief illness. Born in Valley City, he was a retired machinist for General Motors in Cleveland. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; three daughters, Nancy Hermann of Medina, Mary Lou Nichols of Florida and Carol Diesch of Valley City; four grandchildren and one great grandchild; one brother, Herbert Tritt of Valley City; and one sister, Jessie Neumeyer of Valley City. Graveside services were Monday at Zion Church Cemetery in Valley City, the Rev. William Kulju officiating. Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City was in charge of arrangements. ************** Albert C. Frank Dies Saturday Morning Albert C. Frank, 73, proprietor of the Abbeyville general store for close to 50 years, died in his home early Saturday morning following a stroke. Mr. Frank, who had been in his usual good health, was retiring in his living quarters above the store when he fell down a flight of stairs. He died six hours later. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Longacre Funeral home at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Albert Lamprecht of Zion's Lutheran Church in Liverpool. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. He leaves a widow, Julia A. Frank; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Huffman of Medina; three grandchildren, five sisters and a brother. Mr. Frank was a native of Liverpool township. His wife has been the Gazette correspondent for Abbeyville for many years. ******************
