Delos E. Mellert Delos E. Mellert, 82, of Medina, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Oberlin. Born March 2, 1916, in Medina to Henry & Gertrude Mellert, he was a life long resident of Medina County. Mr. Mellert had been employed at the Dolly Madison Pickle Plant and retired from A.I. Root Co., where he had worked in the wood shop for many years. Mr. Mellert was very active in working with honeybees. For many years, one would find him at the Medina County Fair bee display answering questions. He was a member of the Medina County & Lorain County Beekeepers Associations. Besides taking care of his honeybees, Mr. Mellert enjoyed woodworking, raising rabbits, gardeing and, especially the quality years of traveling with his wife. Mr. Mellert is survived by his children Angie (Wayne) McKim and Allen Bass, both of Medina; and granddaughter, Michaelle Bass. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Bass-Mellert in 1990 and his parents. Service: 11 am Friday at Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City. The Rev. Richard Thewlis will officiate. Burial: York Township Cemetery Visiting hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p m today at the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice. ***************** Helen Miller Bart, daughter of Ernest & Barbara Miller, was born in Newark, O., March 12, 1842. When she was 10 years old her parents moved to Liverpool Township, Medina County. She was married to Leonard Bart of Washington, D.C., March 1, 1864. The couple resided in Mallet Creek for 55 years. To them were born six children, Charles Bart who died September 9, 1893; John Bart of Litchfield, Lydia Stoup of Lester, Kate McCollum of Be_____ville, Louis Bart, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Carried Chilson of St. Louis, Mo. There are nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Henrietta Fahrion and George Bart are children of the deceased husband and a former wife. Both of these children reside in Mallet Creek. The husband passed away Sept. 13, 1919 and this loving wife and mother June 26, 1928.
