    3. Southwest Medina Co. Lodi After nearly two months of suffering from an unusual case of typhoid fever, Miss Anna Neumeyer departed this life on Thursday evening, March 6, at 9 oclock. Four weeks at Wooster hospital failed to effect the cure that her parents hoped for, and with the best of care she at last gave up the fight for life. Sunday afternoon friends and neighbors gathered at her home to pay the last sad tribute to her memory. Services were conducted by Rev. King, after which the body was placed in the vault at Woodlawn cemetery. The parents have been double afflicted, both being sick during Anna's illness. The entire community join in extending the parents and friends join in extending the parents and friends their sincere sympathy in their sore trials and bereavement. **************** KILLED BY A BULL Wm. Baisch of Liverpool Meets a Horrible Death Alone. Wm. Baisch, 74 years old, who lived with his son and daughter at his home three fourths of a mile northeast of Valley City railroad station, was killed by a bull late last Tuesday afternoon. It seems that the son, Fred Baisch, spent Tuesday afternoon at a neighbor's, Wm. Linke's, helping bale hay. At the house, seeing the milk pails there, he inquired why his father was not milking and was told by his sister that their father was at the barn, and he went out there. Not finding the father in the barn, he went to a small, straw-covered shed in the barnyard, where a three-year Holstein bull was kept. Upon looking into the shed he was horrified to see his father lying on the ground, evidently dead, and terribly bruised, and trampled. Calling in neighbors, the body was carried to the house, and Dr. Wood of Brunswick was called in the hope that a spark of life might be left. The Doctor found one side of the body fatally crushed in, the right arm broken in several places, and the head terribly bruised and blood-covered. The unfortunate man had evidently died sometime before the body was found by his son, and probably before the bull had done butting and trampling him. There was no witness of the grewsome death, unless it was Mr. Baisch's dog, which the daughter (Maggie Baisch) says she heard barking after her father went to the barn (which was about 4:30 oclock); but when she looked out doors to learn the cause of the dog's barking he had stopped, so she did not go to the barn. The bull that did the killing was a registered Holstein. Fred Baisch says he had not regarded the animal as ugly, at the time he would roar or bellow in an ugly way when approached, but had never offered to gore anybody. The son had warned the father, however, never to go into the shed alone with the animal nor attempt to feed him. When the dead man's body was discovered, the bull, which was never tied in his pen and was de-horned, appeared perfectly quiet and docile, and not at all like a brute that had just committed murder. The ring in his nose, into which a snap at the end of a rope was hooked when he was led out, had been broken. Whether Mr. Baisch had tried to lead the animal to water, or had gone into his pen to feed him, or for what purpose, can't be known. The dead man was a widower, his wife having died very suddently of heart disease about two years ago. He was a good citizen and a man highly respected by all who knew him. ************************** THE WAY OF LIFE. He was dead when found hanging there by a neighbor, G. A. Ember, who had called to see him. The deceased had been a bachelor till last May when he married Mrs. Emma Lash.
