Elissa, This is incredible....My 2nd great grandparents (Michael Ford & Rebecca VanHouten) were married by Rev. Weygandt in Wayne County, Ohio in 1828. Do you have any idea where the church was located that year? Just in the last two days I have been trying to ascertain where Michael and Rebecca were in 1830, shortly after they were married. I found a Michael Ford living in Guilford, Medina Co. in the census that fit the profile to be his family, but wasn't quite sure if that was him because I figured he would be near his father in Chippewa. Now I am feeling pretty confident about my Michael being the fellow in Medina County. What else can you tell me about Rev. Weygandt in Medina and his church? I would like to know the name of the denomination and whether there are any church records still around. Michael Ford had a sister named Esther who I have reason to believe married and lived in Medina County, but I can't find any record of her anywhere. Do you think people living in Chippewa attended that church? They had arrived in the port of Philadelphia in 1727 on the ship Friendship. At that time Philadelphia was a larger port than New York and Pennsylvania was very heavily German. Their name changed from Eberhardt to Everhard by the time they arrived in Ohio 85 years later. The Hartmans came to Medina County about 1832 traveling directly from eastern PA to Medina County. They came with the Seiberlings but as far as I can tell were not related to them. Hartman Road in Wadsworth is named for my Hartmans. Also look for religious affiliations. My Rev. George Henry Weygandt brought his congregation with him when he moved to Chippewa Twp., Wayne County. The church is literally across the street from Medina County at the corner where Medina, Wayne and Summit meets. I am told that whenever the church burned they just moved it from corner to corner and so it was in all three counties. Don't know how true that is. The cemetery did not move and is on the Wayne County side. -- Elissa in Pittsburgh Lifetime member, Medina County Chapter, OGS Elissa Scalise Powell, CGRS www.PowellGenealogy.com CGRS and Certified Genealogical Records Specialist are Service Marks of the Board for Certification of Genealogists used under license after periodic evaluations by the Board. http://www.BCGcertification.org/ > -----Original Message----- > From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com [mailto:gc-gateway@rootsweb.com] On Behalf > Of albertsdale@netscape.net > Sent: Friday, August 26, 2005 3:13 AM > Surnames: Albert > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HZB.2ACI/961 > > I am looking for my Great-grandfather who may have migrated through > Medina.
