Surnames: WILSON, MARTIN, PORTER, THOMAS, TREAT, STRAYER, COLEMAN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HZB.2ACI/908.1 Message Board Post: I would be interested in sharing any info on the STRAYER family as John's supposed elder sister Susannah b. 13Jul1822 PA is my ancestor. She married 12Oct1837 at 15 years of age, Micheal COLEMAN in Medina and I found their marriage certificate in the Medina records. Have been unable to find any other info pertaining to the family in local history books/papers/genealogy at Medina Library. Recently a genealogy friend came up with this family info. He determined the parents to be John STRAYER (b. 1796 PA) and Margaret (b. 1801, PA) of the younger siblings at least (John, George, Elizabeth) and I have some info on your John's marriage and children. The COLEMAN's and STRAYER's seem to have stayed within close proximity of each other.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HZB.2ACI/907.2.1.2.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Not this John Dakin. George William's father is John, but he reportedly died in the Civil War not long after George William was born, and very little information about him was passed down. George William was born in Wheeling, WV, but did not know where his father was born. He left home at an early age, and no living descendents know what his mother's maiden name was or the name of her second husband. I'm trying to find more records on George William in the hope of finding more clues about his parents, but I can't find him in the Census at all until 1900, after he had married Sarah Philena Koons and settled in Ashland County.
