The Great Lakes Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists is sponsoring an Advanced Genealogy Discussion Group. The next meeting is on Saturday, May 21, 2005. The purpose of the group is to discuss advanced genealogical methodology as presented in case studies that have appeared in various scholarly genealogical publications. The group meets the third Saturday of the month, starting at 10:00 am, at one of the Akron-Summit County Public Library meeting rooms. The library is located at 60 South High St., Akron, OH. The meetings last about one and one-half hours. The discussions are free but pre-registration is required. Any experienced genealogical researcher is welcome to enroll. As a pre-requisite, participants should be familiar with Dr. William M. Litchman's article, "Teaching Analysis, Logic, and the Research Process: A Seminar Approach", from the NGS News Magazine, Nov/Dec 2000, pages 340-343. Each participant is requested to read several times, in advance of the meeting, the article to be discussed at the meeting. The article chosen for the May 21, 2005 discussion appeared in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, September 1992. It is titled "Howells of Muskingum County, Ohio: Correlating and Interpreting Evidence to Reconstruct a Family" beginning on page 194. To register, or for any questions, contact Donna Gruber at djg@bright.net or call (419) 846-3533.

BOWERS nee GALLATIN, b. abt. 1822. They were married in Medina in 1837. Their last of 7 children was born in 1850. Jacob was remarried to Hannah SHIRTS in Wayne Co., OH in 1860 and moved to Michigan in early 1860's. This indicates Susannah died betweet 1850 & 1860. Jacob's last of 4 children with Hannah was born in 1868, so we presume he died between 1868 & 1873 when Hanna remarried. No death record found. It may be possible he was buried in Ohio? There is some indication that they may have been Mennonite. Thank you for any assistance, T. Bowers
