    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HZB.2ACI/969.1 Message Board Post: There is a listing in the LDS transcription of the 1880 Census for Joyfield, Benzie Co., MI, that has a number of similarities to the family that you have listed. It is an African-American family. The main discrepancy is the age for Alma, which is listed as 29. However this may be an error due to either difficulty if reading the originals or possibly typographical, if her age was listed as 20, as it would have been if she were born in the latter part of 1859. http://www.familysearch.org Good Luck, Vera

Surnames: FREEBURN, FREEBORN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HZB.2ACI/967 Message Board Post: I am wondering if there is a crossover on the Freeborns listed here and the Freeburns who are my relatives. I show a William Hill Freeburn who spelled it as Freeborn who died in Wadsworth, Medina county on 21 Feb 1885. He was born in 1812 in PA. He married Rebecca Welley who appears to have been born in Ohio in 1815. The Freeburns were from PA and descend out of Hill Freeburn, a Rev War Veteran. My hunch is Freeburn and Freeborn are close enough spelling wise to be related. Anyone working on this family please write me at: WJohn55447@comcast.net

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Bates, Reynolds Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HZB.2ACI/962.2.1 Message Board Post: The 1860 Whitesburg KY census of Letcher county has Martin V. "Bats" age 22 and his mother Sara "Bats" age 65 living near my Reynolds family. It is the only time I have seen the census taker write a weight for a resident. It says that Martin is a farmer and "ways 342 lbs". I believe The Bates name is misspelled as "Bats". I am sure this is probably your Martin Van Buren Bates and if so than the Nov 9 1837 date would fit his birthdate. Also I have seen several other sources site this same date. I have been interested in this family since my Great grandmother Rachel Lee married Henry C Bates (Martin's nephew... the son of James Bates and Elizabeth Adams). Henry C Bates was not Rachel's only husband however and Henry Bates is not my direct line. Also Martin's niece Drucilla Craft (dau of Martin Van Buren Bates sister, Martha Irby Bates) married Stephen N. Reynolds which is also my family. You will See Stephen and his wife Drucilla (both age 21) living with Stephen's parents...(Stephen's father Noah Milburn Reynolds who married Mary Chaney Stone) and they are all listed as a neighbor to this "Martin V Bats" in the 1860 Letcher KY Census. My direct line is the young boy Joseph C Reynolds age 12 also as Martin's neighbor in 1860 the other son of Noah and Mary Reynolds. Hope this helps. Good luck in your family searches!
