Does anyone know anything about Ezra Kelley, born about 1790 NY, living with Betsy (age 90 b NY) in 1870 census Homer Twp? Living next house is Joseph Park and wife Hannah and family. I found a marriage for Joseph Park and Hannah KELLEY. Maybe Hannah is Ezra's daughter? When did Ezra die? Does anyone have access to Home Twp cemetery listings? Thanks for any help. Lyde

"Walking Aroung the Neighborhood with the Census Taker: Why did he always miss my ancestor?" will be presented by Elissa Scalise Powell, CGRS. The Federal Census is a wonderful and basic tool for genealogists, after vital records, but finding the ancestor can be a challenge. This lecture shows what type of information is on each census and gives the tools for gaining access to the information. Techniques, aside from indices, will also be shown to help the researcher through some of the pitfalls of the records. Internet sources and resources will be discussed. The 1930 census (due for public release on 1 April 2002) will also be discussed. _________________________________ TUESDAY, APRIL 17, 2001, 7 p.m. NORTH HILLS GENEALOGISTS will hold its regular third-Tuesday meeting at the Northland Public Library, 300 Cumberland Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237 (McCandless Township) The meeting is free and open to the public. We regret that we have no way to distribute information from this meeting if you are unable to attend. Finding The Place of Origin of Your Irish and Scotch-Irish Ancestor will be presented by Dr. James H. Sterrett The chance of success in tracing ones Scotch-Irish ancestor in Ireland is in direct relationship to how specifically one can identify where he or she originated there. Because research in Irish records will probably be of little success otherwise, this place of origin is something you must know before you go. This talk presents several ways to find where that immigrant ancestor called home. While the talk will focus on a specific group, the sources and techniques explained here will be useful for family research of many ethnic immigrant groups. Dr. Sterrett, retired Professor of History at Geneva College, is also a former editor and continuing contributor to the WPGS Quarterly, now operating from his home in Brockway. Jims special interest is Irish and Scotch-Irish research, about which he has spoken at local genealogical and historical societies as well as the 1995 FGS Conference. __________________________________ APRIL 26 to 29, 2001 OHIO GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY will have its annual conference at the Hilton Hotel Akron / Fairlawn, OH on April 26 through 29 with Friday and Saturday each having as many as 5 lectures per hour to choose from. Topics such as Computers and Software, How to Begin, Federal resources, Health History, Military Records, Austro-Hungarian Empire, Church Records, British Isles Research, German Research, Criminal Records, Probate, Irish Records, African-American Research, West Virginia Research, and Maps will be presented, just to name a few. Many vendors representing genealogical book and CD companies, as well as Ohio Counties will be there. Also for the first time, the Board for Certification of Genealogists will also be present to answer your questions about the certification process and offer guides for sale for those interested in more information. The vendor area is usually in a publicly accessible space, so browsing the tables is easy and fun. He was married three times. (1) Olive Pierce, (2)Clarissa Marsh (3) Elizabeth Lake. I believe he had at least 4 children, and one may have been a Charles.
I have found this family in OHIO US Censuses and woud like some info about the baptism/christening of the two oldest sons of Charles Merriman Fenn, one born Sept. 29, 1829 in NY (Lyman) and one born Oct 13, 1831 (Merriman) - both of these would have been baptised in late 1831 or in 1832. The family moved on to York where they settled for the next 30 plus years. Does anyone know the name of an old (1830's) Presbyterian or Congregational Church in Lafayette to which I can write? The family I question is that of David H. Steiner, born 13-Jan-1871 who lived in Sterling, then Wadsworth, Ohio. He attended the Dague reunions before and in 1938. Believe he died ca. 1952. Would like to find out who he married and if there were children.

Amanda and Alfred are buried in the Loyal Oaks cemetery in Summit County, OH. At her death in Feb 1930 she was living on East Street in Wadsworth, Medina County, OH. Some of these children are buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth. Would like to communicate with anyone searching these families. I have early pictures from this family and would like to share data.
I have responded to Renee Pence directly. For other Boyer researchers, here is some information about Daniel Boyer Daniel Boyer was born Jan 7, 1832 in New Harmony, PA. He married Hannah Gephart and lived in Caly County, Indiania. A couple of years ago I corresponded with another descendant of Daniel Boyer. The line of descent to Daniel is as follows: John Henry Beier married Elizabetha Zerbe (I have two more generations on the Zerbe's). John and Elizabetha were Huengenots who were part of the British Stores Scheme in New York State. Fed up with the British they migrated by barge and on foot to Tulpehocken Creek in Berks County PA. John Henry and Elizabetha Beier had a son George (1734-1806) who married Elizabeth ??? (1739-1806). They were Lutherans. George was a Revolutinary war soldier. George's son John converted to the Mennonite religion and became a minister. When Abraham Ziegler bought the Rapp Settlement in Butler Co., PA Rev. John Boyer bought about 1200 acres. There is an historical marker in Harmony commemorating Rev. John Boyer. John Boyer was married to Susanna Bauer. Rev John (1/10/1762- 6/19/1828) Susanna Bauer (3/2/1767) Married 4/27/1785 Later, Rev. John's son John Boyer and his wife Magdalena Longanecker also moved to Harmony. John and Magdalena had 9 children: Lydia, Sarah. Isaac L. (my gr-gr grandfather) Henry, John. Susannah, Samuel, Daniel (your ancestor) and Jacob. Isaac L., although a Mennonite was a civil war veteran and was wounded at Liberty Gap, a side war of Shiloh. I believe that he might have bee captured as well. Isaac Longanecker Boyer had a son Isaac Rice Boyer who moved to Summit County on the Medina County Border. I presume that he moved there since his uncle was nearby in Medina County. I have more on this line. Through this family you are related to early Dutch settlers (cs 1650's) and can claim a very distant relationship to FDR (7th cousin 4 times removed for me) I will be happy to trade information Terry R.
