My gggandfather Jacob Reisinger emigrated to Liverpool Ohio from Stuttgart Germany in 1834. He married Elizabeth Keller, also from Germany on Oct. 13, 1834. They were married by the Rev. G.W. Emmanuel Metzger who arrived in Liverpool from Wuerttembergh Germany in 1834. I understand he founded the Lutheran church where they were married. They moved to Columbia station in 1848. If anyone has info on this family I would enjoy hearing from you. Sincerely, Carol Reisinger Eskra
Good Morning Listers, I think that a couple of you requested information from me, but I can't remember who and what you needed. It's been an overwhelming time because my father died and because I've also been taking Mom to emergency, doctors' appts. and caring for her other needs. Also, my ISP has lost many messages. Would you please send your requests for information again? I apologize for the inconvenience and delay. Is there anybody out there who can do some lookups for me in Medina County? Am not sure the township where some of my ancestors lived. Following are the names: Andrew Edwards James D Edwards Charles Pliny Edwards Hugh Hazel Ruth Kerns Isaac G. Hazel Margaret Rice Thanks in advance for any help any of you can give me. Patricia (Edwards) Maher Paw Paw, MI
What kind of look-ups are you talking about? All the vital records available have been filmed and indexed. The indexes and records are available through the Medina District Library or can be ordered to a local Family History Center. The Medina Gazette is indexed and the folks at the Medina District Library will check that for you and can get you copies of the obituaries. The Historical Societ indexed the Cemeteries and could get you that info. See the Medina County genweb site for links for these places. We are lucky -- this is a very friendly place to do research!! I wanted to share Cheryl's sentiments because I just joined the Medina County list and received several responses to my Findley family request. It is great to have a group that is willing to help so quickly. I live within driving distance of the Library of Michigan in Lansing and can get there sometimes. If you need some- thing I will try to help. Jim Moses
I just have to tell you, Medina genealogists are great! I've received numerous responses to my request for an obituary lookup, and someone sent me the information already. It's great that you're all so willing to help out! If I can help someone with a Milwaukee lookup, I usually get to the library and/or courthouse once a month. Thank you, Neal. I remember the GARDNER name mentioned in our family, but don't remember how our families are connected. Will ask my mother. Some of our DAGUES lived in Litchfield. One of them, Dora Ann DAGUE married Harry STREET in 1903. Dr. STREET was my grandfather's physician (Dora Ann DAGUE STREET was Grandpa's first cousin). I apologize for the test, but I have not received RootsWeb messages for the last couple days. The administrator of one of our family RootsWeb surname lists says that I'm still subscribed to that list, but I am not receiving messages that have been posted to that list. He has been sending them to me via his own e-mail address. He also said that my own posts have been making it to the list, but I am not receiving them or the messages that others have posted. If the list administrator of this list could let me know if I am still subscribed, I'd be grateful. I am attempting to locate further information on Alfred and Anna or Frances Hiscock and their children. According to the 1900 Ohio Census they emigrated to the United States in 1880. Alfred was originally from England and Anna (or Frances depending on the record you are looking at) was originally from Wales. Alfred was born about 1842 and Anna was born about 1838. They reportedly had 12 children but only 3 were surviving in the 1900 Wadsworth, Medina County, Ohio census. One of their children was TOM Hiscock. He was born in Wales in 1874. An adopted daughter was named "Lizabeth Ann Myers". She was also known as Lizzie and Elizabeth. A variant spelling of the name is HISCOX. Anna (or Frances) died 17 March 1905 in Silver Creek, Medina County, Ohio. Alfred died 24 November 1932 in Medina, Medina County, Ohio. Any further information on this group would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Good luck in your own searches! Cherre [email protected]
I'm not sure if this is the reference you mentioned, but there is a 3 volume set, that I looked through at the OGS in Mansfield, named Pioneer Women of the Western Reserve. It, too, was written in 1896. The index there is in book form. There is a reference in it to my 4gr grandmother, Sarah Gilchrist (Mrs. Eugene). It tells of her trip to the US from Ireland, a widow with 7 children. It mentions that her two daughters were Betsey and Jane. I often wondered why it didn't mention the male offspring--thanks for giving us the info on why it was written. It is a very interesting book and gives a lot of insight into those times. Unfortunately, from a genealogical standpoint, most of it was written from the pioneer woman's relatives a generation or two later and that has led to inconsistencies. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joan T. There is also a hard-cover index book which contains 226 pages of 5 colums on each page of names. It is called "Index - Women in the Western Reserve Before 1840" and was printed in 1976 by the Genealogical Committee of the Western Reserve Historical Society. I got my book from the WRHS a few years back (but not more than 7 years ago), so I don't know if they still have any copies for sale. The price at that time was $15. This is probably the same information as the microfiche at the Family History Center, but in book form. Perhaps your library may have the book if it was distributed widely. The microfilms the book indexes are also at the Western Reserve Historical Society Library, University Circle, in Cleveland, OH. -- Elissa On Mon, 9 Apr 2001 19:30:22 +0100 "Joan T. I grew up in Wadsworth, Medina Cty, OH. And there was a street near where I lived named "Boyer Street". Many of the old streets were named from family names.
Hi everyone, I am new to the list, so I don't know what has been discussed. I have some ancestors who lived in Medina County from about 1831 to 1835, and would like to find more information/relatives. Here is what I have: Lewis W. Findley (aka Louis) born 1792 in New York, died 1848 in Michigan. married about 1814 to Lucy Rice born 1797 in New York, died 1871 in Michigan. their children: Harriet Phiddia Findley Nancy Ann Findley Norton Findley Rugel Findley Louisa Lonora Findley Alfred Jones (Jonas?) Findley Martin Porter Findley Aaron K. Findley Nathan Wells Findley Rose Findley The children were born between 1815 and 1834. The last three were born in Litchfield, Medina Co. between 1831 and 1834. Harriet was married to Kilburn Bedell in 1834, probably at Litchfield. Thank you, Jim Moses
