    3. Dear List: Does anyone have a copy of the transription of vital records of Zion Evangelical in Liverpool/Valley City. I'd appreciate a lookup for Heinrich (Henry) YOST b1799-d1868 [?] and Margaretha REUTTER Yost 1795 - 1896. I'm particularly interested in Heinrich's death date. As a child in 1951, my father showed me Heinrich's badly damaged tombstone at the Church Cemetery (now Rest Acres, I believe). I checked "Whispers from the Past" tombstone index but didn't see this Heinrich/Henrich. Then, last year, I rec'd hard copies of pedigree information recorded in the 1990's listing the tombstone infomation. I think I found a conflict, since I found Heinrich still alive in the 1870 census. I'm wondering if their were a replacement tombstone erected at Rest Acre and perhaps it has the wrong date. Any help on this family appreciated. Shirley HAAS Hulett Gr grandaughter of their son, Louis YOST ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Oh Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Oh/Medina/10537 Surname: TURNER ------------------------- Donna - According to Tombstone Inscriptions From the Cemeteries in Medina Co., OH, Henry & Isabela Turner are buried in Woodlawn Cmty, Harrisville Twp, located in Lodi Northeast of the Square on the Medina Road (US-42). They appear to be the only ones with the surname of Turner buried in that towbship. The markers on the family plot are given as: Pg 163 Woodlawn Cmty - Harrisville Twp TURNER, Henry C., 1838 - 1914 " , Isabela Flemming, 1837 - 1917 " , Charles E., 1869 - 1885 " , Thomas F., 1863 - 1925 A sunken cement birdbath is near this grave and on the ri are these words: Dedicated by the birds to Tom for he loves them so. Ione McMurray, 1869 - 1944 Did you know Isabela's maiden name??? I do not find William and Laura Turner listed in the book, but there are these William Turner's given: Pg 95 Mound Hill Cmty - Guilford Twp TURNER, William, June 13, 1864 - age 45 " , Margaret E. 3. Posted on: Medina Co. Oh Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Medina/10535 Surname: ------------------------- Jean - thank you so much for the lookup. The placename, "Leroy", could have been in New York or another State. Now I can eliminate the Ohio one. Stephen Kelley, buried nearby my Lemuel at Bennett's Corners Cemetery, has been a puzzle to me, especially since a bio of him says he was from Hamburg, NY (same place Lemuel was born). I agree there is SOME connection. About the Clement burials - There was a Clement connection through Selecta Carpenter Morton, sister of Lemuel's first wife, Sarah. Selecta's dau-in-law was Amy Clement Morton.I think, however, there may have been an error in copying or transcribing the tombstone inscriptions? >From your comment about who might have been the "father" referred to in Lemuel's journal, I did check out the fathers-in-law. Lemuel's first wife was Sarah Carpenter. Her father, Zachariah, died 1831. Second wife was Sarah's cousin, Mahala Chloe Carpenter, daughter of Zachariah's brother, David Carpenter. David died 1863. The David and Florence Kelley buried at Bennett's Corners is son and dau-in-law of Lemuel and Chloe. So, I still have this one good clue about the father of Lemuel - his death date. Does anyone know if there might be a clue as to his whereabouts by the fact Lemuel could know about his death the same day in order to enter it into his journal? The entry didn't appear to have been squeezed into a space for that day as though he heard about it later and forced the words onto that line. What would have been the quickest mode of communication in 1879 from farther away? Trains were running then- and telegraph? Jean, thanks again for all you do.

    3. Tuscarawas County was formed in 1808 from Muskingum County, according to the HandyBook for Genealogists. Try they usgenweb site for that county for a list of potential resources. You may have to Interlibrary loan the histories or rent them on film. I know I have used some from that county in my research so they exist. 3. Posted on: Medina Co. Oh Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Medina/10534 Surname: KELLY, CLEMENT ------------------------- Lyde - There are no Kelley (or similar spelling gavestones at all listed in Westfield Twp, where Leroy is located, and there are only two given in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery - that of a Phyllis Kelley, 1817-1974, and with her is Edwin Kelley, 1900- -- (no other date). You probably already know that there is a Stephen Kelley, Apr. 26, 1852 - 58y, buried in Bennet's Corners Cmty very near to your Lemuel W., Sarah, his wife, and Chlde, his 2nd wife. In fact there is only one man listed between them. Stephen would have been born ca 1793-1794 - a generation older than Lemuel. I'm guessing, but I feel there must be a close relationship between the two - if not father/son, then Uncle/son, or Cousin. Also, on the same page is a listing with no dates indicated, but merely reading Lemue W., (no final "l" in Lemue),and Agnes S. d/o Clements. And on the next page is: CLEMENT, Agness d/o J. & M.A., Aug 19, 1854 ? 10y CLEMENT Mary Ann d/o J., Oct. 20, 1865 -59y10m5d You know, the mere fact that Lemuel writes "father died today" does not necessarily mean that HIS father died today. It could be his father-in-law. Do you know Sarah's maiden name? How about his second wife? Could one of them been a Clement?? There are a lot of Clement headstones in the county, and quite a few in the Bennet's Corners Cmty. By the way, there is one more Kelley couple buried in Bennet's Corners - David I., 1860 - 1908, and Florence V., 1856 - 1916. Were they part of your family? Jean Best
