Oh Queries Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Madison?read=573 Surname: Flint, Dominy ------------------------- The obituary I have of John Flint, indicates that after being born in Madison Co. Ohio, he moved to Illinois for about two years before heading further west to Cass Co. Iowa. I have the names, birth dates and dates of death of all of John Flint's children. I also have a series of letters written between 1856 and 1903, mostly by Delia Ann Flint (Warren) of LaSalle Co., Freedom, Illlinois to her younger brother John Flint in Griswold, Iowa. She was quite a correspondent and kept everyone informed of family events. She had an older sister named Louisa Flint (Johnson)(Marshall), yes two husbands, and I have the names and near ages of her children. There was an older brother named Samuel Flint, married to an Eliza Jane. There was another older brother named Hannibal Flint, who is buried in the graveyard in Fiddletown, California. He went to the gold fields and remained there until his death. His nephew, William (Billy) Marshall went with him, but I am not sure if he is buried there. Hannibal never married and had no chldren. The letters I have mention the Dominys several times, but I have been unable to determine how they were related. I thought probably that it was their mother's maiden name but now I am sure. There may also have been two other brothers named Hamlet and Archibald Fllint, but I am still trying to find birth information on them. They would also have been older than John, born 1838, as I believe he was the youngest. I also have information that Samuel Flint may have married a second time after the death of his first wife (Ann Dominy?) The letters refer extensively to a lawsuit over a will and probate of a house and tavern in Madison Co. Ohio, but I am not sure which township. It seems only to have involved Hannibal, Delia Ann and John Flint. More research on that. I cannot thank you enough for your response and information. I am in the process of translating all of the letters, a slow and arduous job since their handwriting and speach patterns were so different from ours. If you are interested in the text, I will be glad to E-Mail them to you as I finish each one. They are all dated and indicate where they were sent from. Sorry this is so long winded, but I'm having such a good time finding the trail of these wonderful pioneers. Would be glad to hear more anytime you feel like it. Regards Liza
