The 1880 census has John's Mother Elizabeth living with him and Clara, and right next door is Evan Pennel just 6 years younger than John. Both say their parents were born in PA. Evan married Julia Akison in Madison Co in 1873. He died in 1928, Julia in 1921, buried together in the cem. I don't see Wilbur in any cemetery. I did find in Latter Day Saints where a Evan Pennell was born May 6, 1847 which ties in with the 1880 census, born in Columbus, parents were Lewis and Elizabeth Zemmons. I'm going into town pretty soon and will snoop around a little more for you.
