James Buckels b.1848 in Harpers Ferry, WV to Margaret Knox b. 1827 d. 1949 (Daughter of John Knox). She is said to have married a James/John Buckels/Buckles but no one has any record of it. She died shortly after James' birth and it is said that his father died in 1850. He was raised as the son of John Knox/Ann Piper until he was told at age 21 of his parents. John Knox family moved to OH in 1850. I question whether James' parents were married as father John kicked Margaret out of the house when he found out about the pregnancy. Her mother rescued her when she found Margaret with pneumonia, so the story goes. I have found a James Buckles in the 1850 census, no family listed, 36 years old. It is said that the father died at sea and I found an article saying a James Buckles was asleep on the pier and drowned. The search goes on. Colleen
