Floyd K. CREATH, son of James and Armada CREATH, was born May 9, 1883, and died at the place of his birth near Chenoweth Corners, Madison County, Ohio, May 23, 1903, aged 20 years and 14 days. His father died nearly four years ago, counting upon Floyd, as the oldest son, to be his mother's comfort in her loss and to be her help in looking after the interest of the home. His devoted mother, to whom he was a dutiful son, survives him, as also two brothers and three sisters-- Clarence and Leo, Mrs. Linnie SQUIRES, Mrs. Stella BARNES and Ora, the youngest. For sometime Floyd had been in failing health-- the disease, consumption, gradually having fastened its grasp upon him until his wasted body could hold his spirit no longer. During the last few months while he had been unable to care for himself he had had the most tender and devoted care of mother, sisters brothers and other relatives and friends, who faithfully stood by him as he fought his last hard battle. Last winter, during the special series of meeting at Bethel, he joined the church, after having fully made his peace with God. During his sickness he seemed particularly to enjoy hearing christain people pray with him and took much pleasure at times in hearing favorite songs sung. One of the last sung at his request, was ''Bulah Land'' the first line of which is '' I've reached the land of corn and wine.'' He was interested in the spiritual welfare of his associates and seemed to hope that even in his last days he might win one or more of them to the christain life. He evidently lived in anticipation of a happy future. To one who visited him he said: '' Sometimes I suffer more than most people think but when it gets hardest to bear I seem to be on the mountain top and look away across the sea, where mansions are prepared for me.'' It was a hard experience for loved ones to give him up, but it was their gracious privilege to watch over and care for him during his struggle and to see his christain faith triumphant over all. This is the testimony that he gave to his pastor as he felt his world receding and death approaching. '' Everything is bright before me.'' Thus even in sorrow, there comes great joy because of his victory over death and the grave. He leaves a precious memory behind and silently calls his loved ones to meet him above. The funeral service was held at the home on Monday morning, May 25, conducted by his pastor, Arthur P. CHERRINGTON. A large number of relatives and friends accompanied the family to the Palestine cemetery, near Mt. Sterling, where his body was tenderly laid to rest. xxxx.
