Thank you so much for your time and consideration. Most of my information about the family of my great grandfather, Joseph White Everett, I gleaned from online census records. Older sister Elizabeth (b. abt 1834) appears on the 1860 census in Midway, Madison County, working as a domestic in the home of Abram and Soprona Miller. After that, I don't know what happens to her. Sister Louisa E. (b. abt 1836) appears on the 1860 census in Somerford, Madison Co., working as a domestic in the home of William and Lucinda Miller. There is also a female child of 9 months named Elva Everett living there. I have not located her yet on the 1870 census, so I don't know where she is. However, in 1880, she again appears in London, Madison Co., living with her brother Walter and sister Laura and son Bertie Everett, age 6. She appears to have died prior to the 1900 census. I have tracked Louisa's son Bert Everett (b. NOV 1874)on 1880, 1890, 1900, 1910 censuses all in London, Madison Co.; in 1920 he is in Columbus; in 1930 he is in Pontiac, Michigan. A note on the 1930 census suggests that he was first married at age 21, or about 1895, but no wife appears on a census until he marries in Michigan - an older widow named Anna Hoult. Sister Laura (b. MAR 1850) appears on the following censuses in Madison County: 1860 in Stokes, 1870 in Union, 1880, 1900, and 1910 all in London. You gave me the information that she died in 1913. In 1880 she is living with brother Walter, and sister Louisa and nephew Bert. In 1900 and 1910, she is living with Bert. An interesting note recorded on the 1900 census asks for number of children born and number of children surviving - in each instance, 2 is recorded. Since Bert is shown as Laura's "son" on that census, it makes me wonder if she was actually referring to Louisa's 2 children and that it perhaps suggests that the daughter also survived - maybe adopted out to another family. All this is simply conjecture. (Ancestry.com mistranscribed their last name on the 1900 census as "Spoerott" - I had to laugh at that.) Brother Walter (b. MAY 1838) has yet to be located on the 1860 and 1870 censuses, but he is tracked on the 1880, 1900, 1910 ones all in London, Madison Co. I've got a marriage date for him of 2 MAY 1889 to Rebecca Lawrence and a note on the 1910 census that the 12 year old boy that was living with them, Otis Berry, was their "adopted son." I have a death date for him of 23 NOV 1911, and his burial location as Oak Hill Cemetery, Lot 66 in London, Madison Co. Brother John (b. abt 1841) is on the 1860 census in Range Township, Madison Co. living with the family of Andrew J and Mary Johnson. I have a military record of him for 19 AUG 1862 as a Private, Company D, 95th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry at Camp Chase. I do not track him past 1860 on the censuses - he may have died in the Civil War. Sister Mary (b. abt 1839) is on the 1860 census in Midway, Madison Co. working as a domestic in the home of James H Gossard and wife Catherine. By 1870, she is married to William Watson and living in Union, Madison Co. and they have the following children: Grant, Lena, Mally and Wm. Jr. She does not appear on the 1880 census, but her husband records himself as married (not a widower) and 2 additional children appear: Ottoway and Clara. By 1900, William Watson is living only with his son Ottoway and his sister Charlotte, and he is marked as a widower. (I've been able to also discover that son William Jr. married Lida Stanley and they had 2 children by 1900 when they were living in Jefferson, Madison Co. - Mary and Wilbert.) Sister Hannah/Martha (b. abt 1844) appears on the 1860 census in Range Twnshp, Madison Co. living in the home of Jesse and Margaret Watson (maybe related in some way to Wm. Watson that married Mary). I have a note that she married a George F. Clark on 3 JUL 1866. I have not been able to track her further through the census years. Brother Thomas H. (b. MAY 1846) is located on the 1860 census in the home of William X R Fisher and wife Mary J Fisher in Range Twnshp. I haven't found him yet on the 1870 census. You posted his probable death notice last week of 11 MAR 1875. Elder brothers Edward (b. abt. 1833) and William (b. abt 1837) I have only located on the family census of 1850 in Urbana, Champaign Co. They may have died prior to the dispersal of the remainder of their siblings. I do have questions regarding what happened to Joseph Everett's first wife, Blanche Davis (m.20 DEC 187) , and their 3 children. Blanche's full name was Cordelia Blanche Davis and she was the daughter of a David C. and Margaret Davis of Franklin, Ross Co., Ohio. Their 3 children were named Charles Everett (b. abt 1879), Rheuson/Rousean Everett (b. 11 MAY 1881 in London), and Daisy Everett (died before she was 12 years old). Blanche died before 1891 and the three children went to live with her side of the family - guess there were few single fathers at that time. (Joseph then married my great-grandmother Effie Ella Stillings in 1891 and they had 2 daughters - Effie died in childbirth in 1896 once again leaving Joseph a widower alone with small children. This is why I have so little information about him and his family). I do have Joseph's (d. 18 JUN 1921) and Effie's (d. 14 MAY 1896) obituaries that were printed in the London, Madison Co. newspapers (the Vigilant and the Madison County Democrat). They both are buried at Milford Center, Union Co., Ohio. I know that this is way more information than you expected, but I hope that it helps you in some way (at least even if it's to avoid looking-up the same information that I have). Thank you again Tom!
