It can be found in FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO CEMETERIES, compiled by the Franklin County Genealogy Society, 10 volumes & 1 volume "Corrections and addenda" ( Columbus 1980-1988 & 1997), Volume 10, Jackson & Pleasant Townships. According to the index for all of Pleasant Twp., there is no gravestone for Susan Orahood (any sp.). The only possible Orahood stone is that of ORHOOD, Albert, 1912; he is buried at Oak Grove. I also checked the Additions and Corrections -- no luck. It's possible that the Pleasant Township trustees have an index of the interments that dates back to 1916 and can give you the information you need. I think I may have her figured out as to which family she fits in. In 1880, Caleb and Susan Arhood have a daughter Amanda, age 7. And Caleb's wife Susan was a Hann. I'd be interested in whatever else you find. I don't have a lot of information on this branch.

Does Lewis Culumber (add an l change u's to o's and any other variants) who died Spet 19, 1863 appear in your records. Lewis married Mary Elvira Frink in Ohio and he had a brother William. Do not know any other family info. This brick wall has blocked my father for decades and myself for a few years. An aunt told my father that her Uncle William claimed that the two brothers where stow aways and worked in the Chicago stockyards for a short time prior to locating to Ohio. Truth or just a tall tale to amuse a greatniece of his I have not figured out.

Been off-line, and it's taking ages to get caught up. I didn't know about the tombstones being used for the house and sidewalk, but perhaps this explains why none of the headstones in the cemetery is in it's original position. I've attached a photo of the home where my grandfather and mother were born. Is this "the old homestead house"? It was called the 'new house' when my mom lived there. A two story brick house is just visible in the upper left corner. It was the 'old house' back then, and was probably the home of the Patterson-Slyh family. The second picture shows it better. Were the barns original to the farm as well? You also mentioned "1773 (Jonathan Alder's birth year)". If you are descended from Jonathan, you're probably also related to the Millikin and Cary families. Jonathan's son Henry married Elizabeth, daughter of James Millikin and Elizabeth Cooke (a Mayflower descendant), and Solomon Cary married their daughter Anna. Do you by chance have any picture of the farm (house & barns) before the old house was torn down? What I've attached are all that I have, and I've been praying that I'd one day find someone who does! If you'd like to chat about the farm some more (hope so), why not just e-mail me directly... just click on my name above to get the address. Hope I'll be hearing from you again soon. Thanks, Dorothy
