No PC at home yet, but soon and will include a scanner. This morning I successfully photo copied a picture of Louisa Flint Marshall, of the Madison Co. Ohio Flints. I turned out great and I could send it to you along with the pretty good photo I copied of Hannibal Flint's gravesite in Fiddletown, CA. My intention is to provide you with all of the data I have on this family. I will attempt to photocopy one of the letters from our dear Delia, but I am still going to transcribe all of them for you eventually. Let me know what you would like first. Also, have you any information of another brother of Samuel and John etc. named Hamlet. He is mentioned in my letters from Delia, but again I'm not certain of who he was. Also, thanks to you I hav figured out that another of my letters was written by Hannibal to John while Hannibal was visiting Archibald in MO. It is addressed from a community or township called Shanghai and some of it is kind of hilarious. I'll be sure you get a copy one way or another. Best, Liza

    2. I am just beginning to research this group of Johnsons. I thought the name Morris Hann was an unusual one. I looked it up and found a marriage in Madison Co for: Morris Ham m. Catherine Meal Madison Co, 14 Apr 1845. However, this is the only marriage for a Meal in the Madison Co Marriage Book. Can you be absolutely sure that she is a Johnson? Could this be a second marriage for her. Willa [email protected]

    2. The History of Madison County. 1883 says Lydia Toops b. November 3, 1808 was the dau. of Henry and Sarah Toops of Pennsylvania. Sorry don't know who Barbara's parent were for sure, but I might bet the girls were sisters. The dates I have for Barbara are b. ca 1801 -- d. November 1874. The Recob brothers, Valentine and Daniel, Jr. were sons of Daniel and Catherine, natives of Pennsylvania. Catherine died in Clinton CO. Daniel died in Mad. Co. Daniel's son Frederick (b. December 13, 1819) m. Susanna Grubb in April 1848. Their daughter, Lucinda Ellen Recob b. 1853 m. Calvin Durflinger. She was my g-g grandmother. Rebecca Grill Chicago

He's my 3rd greatgrandfather. Arch was a veteran of the Mexican War - fought all the way to Mexico City. In '49 he moved to Carroll County, MO to settle on land given to vets of that war. Henry Dominy was the son of Nathaniel Dominy III of Long Island. This family and their intermarriages with other Long Island families are extremely well documented. In fact, you have Mayflower families through the Dominy line. Go to www.dominy.com and you'll find a ton of stuff. Nathaniel IV (Henry's brother) was a famous furniture maker and clock maker in Long Island. His furniture and clocks sell for six figures in NY City. There is a museum dedicated to him in the Hamptons. Do a search on Excite under "Nathaniel Dominy" and see what pops up. It sounds like we've both got a lot of letters from Delia. How do we best communicate what we have? I use MS Word and can send you my files. Can you scan photos? I don't have any of Arch but have some of his wife, Angeline Warner Flint and his son,John Neal. Local histories suggest some religious controversy involving Calvin Morrell and credit him with establishing a fort or blockhouse on the Miami River. Calvin Morrell may have been the son of Jacob Morrell of Chatham, N.J. who married Rhonda Bonnell 17 May 1781. Does anyone know if Morrell was a doctor of medicine or if the title was relative to some ministry? Thanks, John Morrel

Oh Queries Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Madison?read=573 Surname: Flint, Dominy ------------------------- The obituary I have of John Flint, indicates that after being born in Madison Co. Ohio, he moved to Illinois for about two years before heading further west to Cass Co. Iowa. I have the names, birth dates and dates of death of all of John Flint's children. I also have a series of letters written between 1856 and 1903, mostly by Delia Ann Flint (Warren) of LaSalle Co., Freedom, Illlinois to her younger brother John Flint in Griswold, Iowa. She was quite a correspondent and kept everyone informed of family events. She had an older sister named Louisa Flint (Johnson)(Marshall), yes two husbands, and I have the names and near ages of her children. There was an older brother named Samuel Flint, married to an Eliza Jane. There was another older brother named Hannibal Flint, who is buried in the graveyard in Fiddletown, California. He went to the gold fields and remained there until his death. His nephew, William (Billy) Marshall went with him, but I am not sure if he is buried there. Hannibal never married and had no chldren. The letters I have mention the Dominys several times, but I have been unable to determine how they were related. I thought probably that it was their mother's maiden name but now I am sure. There may also have been two other brothers named Hamlet and Archibald Fllint, but I am still trying to find birth information on them. They would also have been older than John, born 1838, as I believe he was the youngest. I also have information that Samuel Flint may have married a second time after the death of his first wife (Ann Dominy?) The letters refer extensively to a lawsuit over a will and probate of a house and tavern in Madison Co. Ohio, but I am not sure which township. It seems only to have involved Hannibal, Delia Ann and John Flint. More research on that. I cannot thank you enough for your response and information. I am in the process of translating all of the letters, a slow and arduous job since their handwriting and speach patterns were so different from ours. If you are interested in the text, I will be glad to E-Mail them to you as I finish each one. They are all dated and indicate where they were sent from. Sorry this is so long winded, but I'm having such a good time finding the trail of these wonderful pioneers. Would be glad to hear more anytime you feel like it. Regards Liza

    3. In a message received yesterday from [email protected], my wife and I noted the information about the William Johnson family. We have been searching for information about a Catherine Johnson who married Morris Hann. Our information about the Catherine Johnson is: Born 1821 in Ohio; or born Nov. 5, 1816 in Ohio and died at the home of her son, David Hann, at Attica, Indiana on April 13, 1907 at the age of 90. If you have any additional information about Catherine Johnson--place and date of birth, marriage, death, children, etc., we would be interested in sharing additional information which might help us solve the mystery surrounding the wife of Morris Hann. Oh Queries Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Madison?read=572 Surname: Flint, Dominy, Warner ------------------------- The Samuel Flint family in Madison County, OH came from Clinton County, NY as did the related Dominys (Jeremiah). Both Jeremiah and Ann's father was Henry Dominy. Samuel Flint Sr. married Ann Dominy in Clinton County in 1817. Ann was the sister of Jeremiah. The census records indicate that Sam Sr. was born in New Hampshire. Other Flints in Clinton County at the time included an elder - Daniel Flint, as well as a John Flint a Betsy Flint, a Delia Flint and a Hepsibeth Flint Hammond. In an 1865 letter from one of Sam Sr.'s daughters to another, the sister noted that she had sent a letter to cousin Mary Hammond in NY. One of Betsy Flint Hammond's daughters was a Mary Flint so we can assume that Hepsibeth was a sister of Sam Sr. However no proof yet. By the way, Hepsibeth said that she was born in Canada in the 1850 census. Rob

I have tons of information for you about the Flint family in Madison Co. Ohio. My great grandfather was John Flilnt, born in Canaan Township, Madison Co. OH on August 23, 1838. He had a brother named Samuel and several other siblings. I do not know where his parents were from and am looking for their origins. Please respond if you can, I am only beginning my search. I am also looking for family members surnamed Dominy. Lorenzo, Nick and Melissa.

W. Durflinger of London, Ohio. She was born Nov 27 1856 in New York to John C. and Mary A. Maloney of Ireland. Mary Alice died in London, Oct 30 1942.
