    1. article copies from Madison Cty newspapers
    2. Re: Can anyone tell me how I can get a copy of the article in "Uncle Billy Johnston, Range Twp pioneer, passed away." ? You can write to the Madison County Genealogical Society at: PO Box 102 London, Ohio 43140-0102 Include the paper name, article date, topic, and a SASE. I think their fees are around $.25/page. You can probably also write to the library in London. I don't have their address. Another possibility is the Ohio Historical Society Archives in Columbus, Ohio. I know their microfilm newspaper collection includes the Madison County Democrat. I'm just not sure if they have the specific year in which you're interested. I think their web site gives their research/copying fees. Good luck! Sherry

    2. Hello Thomas and other genealogists, My ggreat grandmother Lavina Wilson and husband William E White where married Sept 12 1877 now im inclined to believe that was Madison County ohio not Madison city Ohio.... everything about my ggrandmother and her daughter is in madison or franklan co ohio... Now her daughter was Edith Lovina White who Married a James Roy Bridenstine ... I am also looking for info on these folks and articles......My Gfather was involved with the Dairy farming industry ( like a head official with farming health or something like that) and was also mason etc... he passed i believe in 1958 and is buried in Sunset Memorial Cemetary.... Beside him lies my Ggrandmother Edith Lovina White Bridenstine... she passed away in 1980 when two youths broke into her home to rob her, they tied her to a chair and stabbed her ,slit her throat and left her to bleed to death ... is there someone who can look all this up for me I would like pics etc of my grandparents and also news articals. Now My grandmother way back in 1908 went to St. Marys on the springs school and at that time was living in Columbus with just her mother... where did father go? I do know that they traveled some because there are notes and postcards sent from NY,NJ,RI,Maine and PA... from my understanding as rumor had it her family where political and powerful... its rumored that she was related to Woodrow Wilson... have yet to comfirm this but maybe this is why all the traveling...This is possibly why she was in the school but it only lasted a yr then she was removed for illness... her and her mother where the only ones according to school records living at residence. There was a lady living in West jefferson Ohio who remembered my grandmother as a young woman walking to see her grandmother all the time.... hope someone can assist me Kindest reguards and luck Tonya

    2. Littleton, Terry
    3. I had fun with the same thing. The Clifton (like in Clifton Gorge) cemetery straddles the Greene and Clarke Co lines. So people were listed and records found in one or the other with no apparent logic HA My Littletons were all over both counties. Most people with Clarke connections will notice that the Funeral Home in many cases was Littleton and Sons on the DC. Have fun - Terry Littleton (sponsor of [email protected]) formerly of Beavercreek, Greene Co, OH

    1. Madison
    2. I was frustrated by the designation Madison, Ohio for 6 weeks. I was trying to find the marriage lic. for my g. grandparents that the LDS said was in Madison, Ohio. Finally the computer led me to the file behind that information which said that they had filmed it in London Ohio courthouse. So, I was insistent and got the marriage certificate. I live in Greene Co. and find that my Badgleys and the Downeys that they married, were all over the area. Now, I am into Clarke Co. but always on the line near Greene. I think it has something to do with roots and the changing of Greene Co. lines way back when Clarke was created. So you must read about the creation of Ohio and it's counties if you are researching back in 1800. Another help for me is to download some of those early maps of Ohio off Ancestry and tape them by the computer. As I search the early 1800's, I glance over and think about how hard it was to walk with all those trees in the way! Linda Swaney Sabin

    2. Thomas W. Dillion II
    3. [email protected], I don't have any helpful information regarding the persons you are researching, but I am curious about "Madison, Ohio". Is this the county or the city. The Village of Madison, Ohio is located 40 miles north-east of downtown Cleveland, Ohio in Lake County. Check out the Madison's website at http://www.madisonvillage.org/ or the OHGenWeb website for Lake County at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohlake/. Another option, if you haven't tried it already, is to send your query to the Lake County Mail List at [email protected] I send this to the list only because I have seen other queries by persons who did not realize that there is a village and a county in Ohio named Madison. I hope this helps... Thomas W. 3. Sorry about my earlier message. I realize it was very vague. I found a record for my 3rdGreat grand parents , Jonathon and Margaret (Dugan) Tracy, at the Madison County Library in London. It stated that they were buried in Thomas or Dennison Chapel Cemetery. I was thinking it was in Mount Sterling. Does anyone know were this place is located. I tried the locator mapping site but that was no help. Thank you, Cathy Kennard

    1. Harvey and Henrietta Badgley Downey
    2. I wanted you all to know that I have found the lost! Harvey Downey and Henrietta Badgley, after being married in Madison Co. in 1869 moved in with Ellen and Wm. McIntosh, and farmed, in Beavercreek Twp. Greene Co. Ellen Dorman Downey McIntosh, 62, was listed in the 1870 Ohio Census. As I looked at the microfilm was I surprised to find Harvey and Henrietta living there and listed as McIntosh! Of course I knew better. Then there was Henrietta's brother (? - need proof yet) Granville Badgley, whose obit gives his grave as in Mt. Zion cemetery but it isn't! He was only 13. And then there was another missing child Sarah Mason, age 15, who was also a descendant of the original John Downey. And then Wm. McIntosh, 72. I have had such a good day at the Greene Room at Greene County Library. Thank you for all your inquiries from Madison and Greene. Now, I must find where they went next. Linda Swaney Sabin
