Hello! I might be able to help you out. I have been researching the Whiteside & Tway families. My mother was a Whiteside. Her name was Scharlotte Ann Whiteside (now Saxour). My grandparents are Cleo & Reva Whiteside (my grandfather passed away in 1997) of Lafayette ,Ohio (Deercreek Township). I have several John Whiteside's in my family history book. If we can determine which one is the John that you are looking for, then maybe I have some information about him that will help you. Please let me know as I will be glad to share what information that I have with you. Andrea
You know what we need is on each county site is a map of the county with Twp on it like the one for the Ohio Gen web. I copied it off and have it on the wall beside my computer. If each county gen web had a map it would work. Isn't it Clark that has one or is it Madison? Did you get her address and if I had yours - I could mail you guys one by Wed. of next week. But like I said there are others out there who would benefit from maps. Linda
Mike I sent a short email and it was returned. (name all cap's)? Will try again.
Looking for info on the Ingmire/Jackson family who settled in the Plain City area from Hocking County. I can search the Union county side but can't get down to access the Madison county side. Any help appreciated. Kelly Smith Marysville, Ohio _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Thanks Phil, Since making this original posting we have found they were from Lawrence county. There seems to be many Arena and Rena Boggs. Makes it hard to connect the right ones. All seem to be linked also to Sturgills and Gambills.
I will email the information that I have on Fred's family. I would like information on Fred's parents and siblings if you have it. Thanks.
hello! I have the obit of Fred Crothers, but little on his family. After Warren & Nora and family left the Madison co area & then later the Shelby co area(my birth place) the settled in Union co for a while and both died in Montgomery co Oh. I'm still trying to find info on the parents of Warren. My mothers surnames connecting are Dowden/Woodruff.
I am researching the Sharp family of Union County, Ohio and I believe I have a connection to Warren and Nora(h) Crothers. Their son Fred is related through marriage. Would like to compare information. Please email me.
Those certainly sound like names out of Lawrence and Elliot counties in Kentucky. There were Boggs and Gambills in Lawrence County, and Sturgills in Elliot County
Rejoice fellow gen followers I think I have found some threads right here in Ohio country! Moses I went to Butler Co. Ohio - Ohio Tax lists of 1807 and a Census of White Male Inhabitants of over 21, Butler County, Ohio, 1807! There he was Badgely, Moses 2, Le (Lemon Township). I copied the whole thing so will look for more fellow travelers. I found his son from his first wife in Preble Co. I will give you all more information later when I get it all figured out. I am in a little bit of shock. If I am right about the timing, Benjamin Badgely lived in New Lexington/West Alexandria area when the rest of my Preble roots were there. The children must have played together and he worked as a labor in Sugar Grove, the cemetery that my ancestors gave the land for on their farm. My mother never knew this. My father who Mom met in Dayton, loved Lewisburg and wanted to be buried in Sugar Grove, never knowing that his grandmother Henrietta's father, Moses Badgley and grandfather, Benjamin Badgley lived there and Benjamin died there! Thus we have Moses II who ended up in Greene, Madison and eventually Clark Co. Boy, have I been on a chase! I thank the people of Madison Co. for their help and that History of Madison Co. of 1883 which led to all of this. I thank all the other people on various lists who have been sending me tid bits here and there to file away and then when BANG it all comes together, I am in tears! I wish so much that my parents were alive to know how connected the two line of families all are to each other. I will share all this just as soon as I get all the footnotes etc. together. I still need to figure how Moses I got to Greene Co. as stated in 1818 Robinson's History and how Benjamin got to Preble from the War of 1812. Feel free to e: mail me privately but I believe in these public lists. They work!! Linda Swaney Sabin
Hi Fellow List Members, My daughter has been constructing a searchable database of all the newspaper articles and obituaries that we have collected. So far there are 305 articles, most from Madison and Clark Counties. You can search on any word that is in any of the articles. Hi Steven, My name is Paul Dawe (aka Rocky). My GG- Grandmother was Priscilla Ann Keys, she was married to John Leighter. I think she may have been a daughter of Allison Keys. She was born in 1828 in Ohio, and died in 1915 in Kansas. She is buried in Round Mound cemetary. Can you please help with more information. I am willing to exchange any information I have. Thanks, Rocky Dawe
Nancy Don't show McDonald or Soloman in ref books I have, which is the Hughes line, and related families. Most of what I have is in Mason and Jackson Co, VA/WV. The Bailey line I did not know about till last year, so not a lot of info there.I just had a free look up done in Ross Co, and asked for Shears, but at the bottom, had 2 Baileys Sarah Bailey m Ethen Chaney 6/4/1855 Sarah Bailey m John Downing 11/15/1878
Art thanks for the info I only know my Baileys were from Mason West Virginia and then they appear in Clark and Madison Counties but I'll look in the counties you suggested. Do you know anything about the Elisha Solomon (the blacksmiths) family in Madison County about 1865 or the Stephen McDonald family 1844 Fayette County later Madison County? Elishas son Charles married Lavinia Bailey. Nancy
I assume you know the Bailey line came from NY, PA, and from the other direction, from VA/WV. Several Baileys moved into Ross Co, Depending on year, they came from VA, and then it was WV. Married Shears in Chillicothe, and then some moved to Greene Co. Been told told several Baileys buried North Cemetery, Cedarville, greene Co.
Have several Baileys who lived in Ross Co, and then moved to Greene Co,late 1800s/early 1900s. My Shears line married Bailey in Chillicothe mid 1800s, and later lived Cedarville/Xenia area. I have been told several Baileys buried North Cemetery Cedarville. Don't know of connections, but just more info you can add to "who is that" file.
Thanks for the info...No I do not know about the orphans. Parley is my second cousin, four times removed, so I haven't spent much time on him. I really appreciate all the dates, and other info. If you need info on his ancestors, let me know.
Thanks for your reply. Here's what I have on the first couple of generations for Parley, my wife's g-grandfather. I'll cross check this with your dates and send you sources for what I've found. Looks like when the parents died, no one in the family wanted to deal with a couple of teenagers, so they were orphaned out. Do you know any details about that? FIRST GENERATION: 1. Parley B.
