    2. Nancy
    3. Martha Jane FOSTER was born Nov. 7, 1830, and died Jan. 6, 1901, aged 70 years, 1 month, and 20 days. The deceasd was born in Ross Co., but in her infancy her parents removed to Oak Run township, Madison Co., where she has since resided. She united with the Methodist church at Bethel Nov. 7, 1858 and since that time has been a devoted christian. On the 28th of Feb., 1860, she was united in marriage to James CLARK. To this union was born five children- one son and four daughters, only three of whom survive, Mary dying in infancy; Miranda, living in Alabama; Ada, also deceased; Kimbal, living near the old homestead, and Della at home. She also leaves a husband, brothers and sisters and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. Having been an invalid for several years she was deprived of the pleasure of attending church, but had for her companion the Bible. Although suffering pain unendurable to many there was not a word of complaint from the sufferer, who was ready and willing to abide by the master's will. They are gathering home from every land, One by one; one by one! Their weary feet touch the shining strand; One by one; one by one! Their brows are adorned with a golden crown, Their earth-worn garments are all laid down, And clothed in white raiment they rest on the mead Where the Shepherd loveth his chosen to lead One by one; one by one! We, too shall come to the river side, One by one; one by one! We are nearing its water ea(?)n even tide, One by one; one by one! We can hear the roar and the dash of the stream, We can see the portal through life's deep dream, We can hear the music from that heavenly strand, We see the robed singers as in glory they stand, O, vision of beauty! O, burst of delight! Dear mother, sweet mother, now robed in pure white, With joy-beaming face and palm-bearing hand, She beckons us on to the glorified land. We are coming, we are coming, no longer we roam, We are pressing our footsteps toward mother and Home. One by one; one by one! Card Of Thanks We desire through the columns of your paper to return our heartfelt thanks to the neighbors and friends who showed us such kindly attention during the illness and at the time of death of our beloved wife and mother. Jas. CLARK and Family. Happy Hunting! Nancy

    3. Mrs. Martha FOSTER CLARK, wife of James CLARK, and an old and highly esteemed resident of Oak Run township, died at their home last Sunday morning, aged 70 years. The deceased had been a victim of rheumatism for many years and was almost helpless. Recently she suffered an attack of gangrene of the left foot, which spread so rapidly that it became necessary two weeks ago to amputate the limb at the knee. The patient recovered from the operation and was doing well as could be expected fo one of her age, when septicaemia set in from a bed sore of the back. Death resulted in a few days thereafter. Mrs. CLARK was a sister of Daniel and T. C. FOSTER, and leaves a husband and five children all grown. The funeral services were held at the home at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, conducted by Rev. FISHER, of Columbus and SNIFF, of Derby. The body was placed at reat in the Bethel cemetery. Happy Hunting! Nancy

    1. IRION- Obituary
    2. Nancy
    3. I found the following in some of my grandmothers papers and thought I would post it here in hopes it will help someone. Happy Hunting! Nancy Anna, beloved daughter of Joshua and Rachel LEWIS, was born Sept. 1,1867 in Gallia Co. Ohio, and died May 12, 1907, at the Protestant hospital, Columbus, Ohio, aged 39 years, 8 months, and 12 days. She was united in marriage to Joseph S. IRION, Dec.24,1885, and to this union six children were born: Zella, Edna, Rachel, Robert, Ralph, and Rollin, all of whom survive her and are left to mourn her loss, together with a loving husband, father, mother, three brothers and two sisters, and a host of relatives and friends. Our subject resided in Gallia Co. until March, 1984, when she moved with her family to Range township, Madison Co. She converted and united with the Christian church in Jan. 1880, in her fourteenth year. She retained her membership in this church until about six years ago, when she united by letter with the M. E. church at Concord. She lived a devoted Christian life, was a kind affectionate mother and wife, patient even in her last illness and our loss is her gain. Her last words were " all is well", " all is well". "Sleep soft, beloved we sometimes say, But have no gift to charm away Dull pain that through the eyelids creep; But never doleful sound shall slumber break, When He giveth his beloved sleep." Card of Thanks Permit us through the columns of your valuable paper to thank the friends and neighbors for the kindness shown us during the illness and at the time of the death of our wife and mother. 3. I keep getting messages saying "thanks for your help on the ________ family" which have obviously been sent to the whole group instead of the individual who has provided the help. I would like to ask everyone to take a moment when drafting replies to be sure they address it to the person intended instead of the whole list. It becomes very time-consuming sorting through many emails for some reference to a familiar name only to realize that the email wasn't intended for me at all. Thank you!! felicia

    1. Fellow traveler to Illinois
    2. Does anyone have any information on Ephraim Badgley being in Ill. with the Downeys and others from Greene Co.? I found an Ill. land purchase for 1835 by Ephraim Badgley. He shows up in Ill. Census in 1840 & 1850 in St. Clair Co. Ill. I think that I am going to write him off for Ohio, but what I am wondering is if Hugh Badgley and family traveled with this group and then returned to Ohio for the 1850 Census. The Hugh Badgley family is not in the Ohio 1840 Census, but are in 1830 & 1850. Their son Perry was born in Indiana in abt 1839 so that might be on the way back? Any ideas are welcome from the Hugh Banks Badgley group or the Downey/Millers. I sort of want to settle out on Ephraim and Hugh since they are not in my direct line now that I have good old Benjamin! Linda
