I have sent this message or something relative to many - and now feel I need to post to all: So, for what it is worth... I meant nothing negative toward the lists nor am I remotely looking at "the lists" as the cause of any of my computer problems. I did discover a "worm virus" on my computer. I am not hard-drive savvy and do not understand the full complication linked to this or other viruses and I wanted to protect everyone else. I also started receiving private emails from people that discovered me through "some" list (I was subscribed to many) who started sending me fwd material with hidden attachments/images not related to genealogy. I have sent requests to those individuals to make sure they no longer send anything. I do still belong to several Surname lists and the ones I have chosen to delete are Counties in which I cannot find any further link with at this time. I really did belong to too many! I am going to be receiving several records in about 90 or so days and will be subscribing (or re-subscribing as it may) with whichever lists I need to resume my search. Again, my decision was based on wanting to protect others. I see now that perhaps I should have explained myself better... And, thanks to many suggestions - we are going to be installing a more efficient/effective virus protection program! I have found McAfee to be worthless. Warmest Regards and Fruitful Hunting! Virginia
