    3. Hi all ... I am looking for information on a Francis L. "Frank" WELLS b: 1843 in Erie Co., OH to Francis James and Ann (Hill) WELLS (she was the daughter of John HILL who died about 1880 .. I think). Frank served in the Civil War from 1861 to about 1872 discharged in Rhode Island. He met and married an Irish Catholic girl there in 1872. After two daughters being born in RI: Nellie and Mary J. WELLS, they moved to Wellington as his parents had moved here. Evidentially, his mother was not happy with his Irish Catholic wife as according to her own testimony she knew nothing about her, did not want to know anything about her and would not allow her in the house. Since the children were raised in the Catholic church, I suspect it was the same for the children. On the 1880 census, Frank was running a Billiard Room in Wellington. It was stated that he drank heavily and gambled his money away. The children born in Wellington were Agnes b: ca 1876, Katherine W. b: ca 1878, Frank b: ca 1879 and Josephine M. "Josie" born 1880. In 1883 after receiving 'property' from his grandfather (must be John Hill), he sold the 'property' for $3000 and set out to start his own business ... and never returned. He went to Peninsula, Summit Co, OH and then to Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., OH. There is a possibility he was also in Sparta, Stark Co., OH and Medina Co., OH for a short time in the mid-1880s. In 1900 they found him dead in his 'West side Room" after he had not been to work for several days. At least Mary J., Katherine W. and Josephine M. lived in Cleveland from about 1889 to at least 1924 when their mother died in Cleveland (they brought her to Cleveland in Oct 1901). In 1902 Josephine, Katherine and Mary J. were not married .. worked as dressmakers and stenographer. I only know Mary J. the dressmaker was not married when her mother died in 1924 .. and possibly Josephine. I would like to know what happened to Nellie, Agnes and Frank... did they die in Wellington or get married? In the request for Widow pensions, there is no mention at all of the son, Frank .. so I believe he may have died very young. Also, there is no mention of the daughter Agnes. However, it did indicate that when he left her that she had 6 children, the youngest being 1-1/2 years old. Can anyone fill me in on this family and what happened to the children? Also, any information on John Hill and his wife would be appreciated. Bonita -- Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas
