Happy Valentine's Day. I was a student at MSU and cadged a ride with classmates to attend the wake of our much-loved Russian teacher. Since none of us had a car, a classmate's friend who was visiting from Buffalo, provided the transportation. Peter- the driver- and I were married three years later. The eerie part is that even though he was living in NY, we met in Michigan, his mother's family is from Olmsted and Berea, and my Dad's family are from Columbia Station. My husband is only mildly interested in genealogy, but paid attention enough to say that if I find any connection between us closer than cousin in the second degree he doesn't want to hear about it.
