BlankAlma HANCHETT was the second wife of Jonah HANCHETT, early settler in Ridgeville. They are buried in the Ridgeville Center Cemetery. ELYRIA COURIER DECEMBER 29, 1846 PG. 2 Deaths. In Ridgeville, Lorain Co., Ohio on 19th inst. Alma HANCHETT in the 90th year of her age. Mother Hanchett was born in the state of New York; she with her husband emigrated to this country at an early day, and were among the first settlers in Ridgeville. She professed religion some time before the year 1798, at which time she became a member of the M.E. church which was then in its infancy, and she retained her membership until she was dismissed from the militant to join the triumphant church in glory. She was a soldier of the cross 48 years, and her aquaintances believe she will wear a crown forever. Death found her ready to depart, and like the Patriarchs, she gathered up her feet and died in great peace.
