i'm not too sure of when he was in Panama. I woudl guess the first decade of 1900 but I am not sure. I know my aunt and uncles lived there from about 1904 to 1921 or so........I wish I could remember (senior moment) where I got those records. It seems like it was from an office in College Park, Maryland, but don't know if that's where the NARA is at or what, but will most certainly find out for you. I do remember that it took quite a while and some paperwork, which I found on line. Maybe if you go to the NARA website and check the available forms that you can print out, it would help. If not, maybe it will tell you where to send for the forms, as I do remember that they were in triplicate, at least. Darn! I wish I had a better memory about it, but I have sent for SO many records that I have a blank right now. I know that I begged and pleaded for leads as to how to get them on the Panama list and other lists, and got some answers, but they weren't the ones I needed. And so it goes........ Sande, Have you checked out the immigration records on Ancestry? I found people coming back from the Canal Zone with their families that I didn't even know had worked there. That gave me important information as to relatives' addresses and names. It's worth checking!
