    3. I had a mixture of certificates when I proved several Lorain First Family individuals last year. Not everyone had a legal certificate. I'm positive that I submitted photocopies of all my legal documents, not the original copies with the actual seals. For current generations (ourselves, parents, and perhaps grandparents) legal certificates will likely be available. However, my own grandmother had no record of birth and I had to use a census record for proof of her parentage. No one should give up trying to prove lineage because their documentation is not perfect. Most organizations of this sort accept reasonable substitutes of documentation.
