In 1999, I buried my Mother who had paid into Social Security and 2 weeks later I had to bury my 27 year old Daughter . I was the executor of both and the Social Security here in Fremont,Ohio told me that it was no longer paid. So I ended up with paying for 2 funerals myself which my Daughter had a Mobile Home that when sold (2 years later) paid hers and last year I finally got my Mother's paid off -Month by Month. They say they pay for it on the ad on TV but they somehow no longer do. In 1974 my Father's went to the funeral home but do not know when they changed it.
